leech,

The family and I went up and stayed in Tofte the weekend of the 1-2. Rode the NS trail south almost to Finland, north almost to Pike lake. Also went up the Tomahawk to the Trestle for a late lunch on Saturday. Trainwreck with casualties for me and regular trainwreck for Junior, LOL!!!

Also hit about every connector trail between Lutsen and Temperance River. Every trail was perfect!! We got about 2-4 inches of powder while we rode saturday too which was nice. Heading out on a day trip somewhere thie Sunday, thinking of hitting up the Fond du lac and Savanna state forest trails, or possibly heading over to Bayfield county in Sconny.

You heading up to B-side? If so good luck, hoping to make it one of these days. I got a laker itch that needs scratchin' gringrin

Yep, B-side it is. wink

Boy, was I a little bummed when I ordered my first ever Trainwreck at the Trestle last time there. I must not have listen very well when Randy tried to explain it to me. When his and mine came out I ask the bartender if he had my order wrong? I said why is Randy's so much bigger then mine? frown

He said, you didn't order it with "Casualties" Auuug! cry

I blame Randy! grin

"Man, you guys sound like you are riding the heck out of it this year. Is your wife really that nice, or do you take her with you? smile "

On most all weekend trips, and all outta town trips she is with. She loves to go, heck we've been riding together since 1995. I run a T570 now and she runs the F570, same sled just in a single with 121" track. Mine has a 144" and is the two up with the removable back seat.

When I ride during the week, its usually just me since I'm off most Thursdays. Drop Junior off at school at 815 and dont have to pick him up til 315, so lots of time to ride.

We decided that after an all day B-ball tournament tomorrow, that we are going to ride from the house on Sunday and make a big loop thru the area. Trails are awesome after yesterdays 7" of snow we got!! Rode for only a couple hours yesterday, but it was awesome in that powder grin

Randy,

I should have either the 8th or 15th open, maybe we can work something out for another ride one of those weekends.

Randy,

The Tac sounds good, easy access and lots of options. I will lock down which weekend ASAP.

Won 5 straight games today and took the area B-ball tourny (5th grade). Junior had his best game this year in the finals, had 26 and 8. They were down by 6 at the half (24-18) and outscored the host team 30-4 in the second half, with Junior scoring 20 of the 30. Proud Papa!!! smile St Cloud and Cambridge the next two weekends.

Got about 3" of fluff today, and they are saying another 5-6 on monday, whohoo the trails are really good!!!!

Doing the family ride tomorrow, and may get in a solo trip on monday afternoon.

Lets see....snowblow or ride, snowblow or ride LOL....RIDE winkgrin

PS, leech how was B-side?

It sounds like you are burning the candle at both ends and the middle with activitiess my freind! That's Great for your son and the team. Better make some more trophy room around home!

Got skunked on Lakers up on B-side but did pull in a Pout. Which ended up being my first try at Poorman's lobster with the 7up deal. It wasn't to bad actually and did taste a little like lobster! shocked

LAS,

I gotta leave the house at 8:45 and should be back home by 10ish. Call me at 42eight 6zero6five. Sled is sitting ready to roll, just gotta oil and gas it up!!!

The Mrs and I did 85 miles today and they were GREAT!! Passed a total of 6 sleds all afternoon. We were the first ones on some sections of 51 between Cromwell and Brookston, there were hundreds of deer and wolf tracks on the trail in yesterdays powder but not a single sled grin

Had an early dinner (or really at very late lunch) at the Sidecar in Carlton about 4:15, and met a guy who had ridden all the way up from just south of Green Bay!!!!

He was heading to Itasca State Park, for the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi river. Was a bucket list item for him. Drove him to his hotel in Cloquet and gave him some links to online MN maps and were on our way back home... great bunch of folks sledders are grin

Ready to roll!!!!

Ahhh, boiled Pout....I do love the stuff (but not lobster except maybe a little in texture). Some use Mt. Dew too, we always just melted snow up in Ontario. Also boiled fresh laker is awesome the the same way.

Serve with melted butter and salt and pepper and you can't go wrong!

Deep fried fresh (key word) Pout is also great. Many times on LOTW we have cooked up eye's, saug's, and pout for a big fishfry and there is no difference. (I do save all the big perch for home wink )

This weekend will be a bit more challenging....we have in our bracket Edina, Forest Lake, Albany, Princeton, and a St Cloud team. A bit bigger schools than our 84 student class LOL grin Oh well, its all good, always better to play up rather than down!!!!

Yes he was. It was supposed to be 3 guys but 2 backed out a few days before they were to leave.

Unfortunately, I got a call late yesterday morning from him. He had got stuck in deep snow in a ditch and had to have 2 other guys help him get out, had taken a wrong turn in getting back to the Munger Trail, and had gotten a call for his business (small trucking outfit) that needed to be taken care of.

Long story short, he asked me if I would put his sled on a trailer and take back over to the grade outside of Superior, he wanted to head home. Felt bad but I think that he realized that being solo, and unsure of the trails along with having diabetes was not a good combo. I picked him up and actually drive him over to the motel in Brule so he could get an early start this morning. He was trying to get a buddy to drive up with his truck/trailer and drive him back, he was just pretty worn out.

LAS, were you thinking of trailering up to the Tac or riding up from Twig? I am about 90% sure I am in on the 15th. Ely Boathouse here we come grin

Where do you plan on starting from on the 15th and are you going to Ely and back? Also how fast do you guys ride? Reason I ask is I might ask one of the Grandsons if he would like to go and I would get a room for a night and ride for 2 days up there. Also is there a safe place to drop the sleds and park the truck?

I started looking at miles and guess that we will be dumping sleds at the lot north of Virginia. It is right on the Taco it's trail where it crosses Hwy 53. I I do t k ow if that lot is safe but the Laurention Center is just south of there and they May let you park there

Oh did I mention that I AM IN FOR THE 15th!!!

Doing a family trip to Orr the 8/9th and have the 15th cleared.

The plan at this time is to unload at the Taconite trail where it crosses 53 about 6 miles north of Virginia the lot is out of in the boonies kinda,,,, so I wouldn't leave my truck and trailer there but you can head to Ely with us on sat and head to Grand Rapids on sunday if you want to make it a 2 day trip ,,Just get a room in Virginia

I dont ride fast ,,,30 is my normal cruising speed as the Tac is wide but curvy in spots and I do like to go slow to take in the sites
