BrianLucky13
I'm very interested in this. I could catch 1,000 walleye in the winter and throw back 994 of them just cuz I'm about catch in release. But I might catch 125-500 pike and some need to be gone. I don't like fish normally. Some jars of pike will help the lakes and help me maybe like fish. Thanks.

If you hunt its also something I've given to landowners after letting me on their land. I think things like this go a little farther than a gift card or money. Just make sure you try some before you give it out. A friend gave me a jar and a landowner a jar once. I didn't crack it open for a month or two. It was the worst thing I've ever tasted. He still has permission there but they never want any of his homemade goods.
deerminator
I am going to try pickling this winter but I just love pan or deep frying pike. I will take a nice meaty pike fillet over walleye any day. I know that makes me less of a fisherman to the walleye guys but if I had to pick one fish to catch, I would give up walleye for pike. Fun to catch and eat.

teal50
I've tried many recipes over the years for pickled pike...but the absolute best, to me, is one from Amy Thielen's new cookbook called Midwestern Table. It uses Lemon and Basil. Never had better.Minnesota girl and that cookbook has a bunch of excellent recipes...highly recommend.
