mrklean
I want to pick up some suckers next Thursday for the GTG what's the best way to keep them alive through the weekend and longer?
MJ1657
Get them in a bag with oxygen. I leave the sucker um using in the hole overnight. I have had them last close to 3 weeks in my perm house.
PGF
+1 oxygen bag, also at home i keep them in the big laundry sink in the basement and they last quite a while, just keep changing the water, and cover with something. (i have gone down to get one before only to find out it jumped out some time ago)
MJ1657
I've used a fish tank bubbler with one of those stones on the end of it. Seems to help.
luckycrank
buy them a new bucket ....a.k.a stadium works for the vikings
tipup
Best that works for me is keep them in a cool place like a garage and change water daily. If there was/is snow throw a snow chunk in a couple times a day. I have never used an air source and kept suckers for weeks. Now shiners on the other hand are hard to keep alive!! jasonmichalski
two 40 gallon tubs under the basement steps and a 110v bubbler, switch them every few days and clean the dirty one, then take them out in an aerated cooler.
Meat-Run
Does anybody keep them in there spear hole while gone? Any tricks to keeping them out on the lake and still be able to chisel them out when frozen??MR
hawkeye43
I leave them on the pin and tie the line short so its just in the water. If I have more they go in a floating fish sack and float that in the hole, can be placed in a cooler when I am there.
ninakawawa
put them in a metal fish trap with a chain or strong line of some sort down your hole. then just chip out the hole.
