This is on private land. The landowner lets me hunt and one other person. I spoke with the landowner and explained the situation. The landowner is going to ask the other hunter, whom I have never ran into or seen any other sign of (stand, footprints etc). If its not him and I can feel confident that it is not, then someone was trespassing big time.

He may have been trespassing and got his picture taken in the act, than thought he became scared and stole the camera so he wouldn't identify him in the picture. Also if he was trespassing it already shows he is capable of other things.

I just use a Covert Black ops camera, it text me the pictures. I get them 1 minute after it takes it, I never have to go in the woods to check pictures, and leave my scent in the woods when I am not hunting. If some one tries to steal it, I will get a text picture of them taking it. It have it set to take 3 snap shots, 1 minute apart, if there is any movement. I can also send a command from it via text, to take a picture any time I want it too. I can also change the program to it by just texting certain prompts.

It has texted over 3000 text pictures this fall, and it has taken over 6000 pictures, and the batteries are still on fully charges. It takes 9 AA Lithium batteries.

I also have one sitting over my driveway at my cabin, so if anyone walks up the driveway, or drives up the driveway, it sends me a picture of them.

The camera was $299 on sale, and regular price was $349. It costs $10 a month for 1000 text pictures from a go phone plan. No contract needed, just pay as you go.

It takes great pictures, 12mp, and saves them to the memory card, but the texted pictures get reduced mp for texting. But they still take really good pictures.

My dad and I have had something similar to this happen. A couple of years ago we had a camera up that was ripped down by a bear. Had an extra camera around the house so we set one back up and then found a tree that we could set up a camera pointing at the camera at traffic level. Low and behold someone came by, took the camera and yet we still had pics of the guy due to the second camera way up. Yeah...a lot of work, but when you end up busting the guy it sure was worth it.

If you have a cam that will text you the photos I'd probably hang a sign on the cam that reads:

"If you are reading this sign your photo has already been taken and sent directly to the owner of this camera. If you choose to steal the camera your photo will be sent to law enforcement."

It probably won't stop everyone but its added motivation for someone not to steal something known they are already caught.

I just try to camouflage the camera as well as possible. By putting it in a pine tree, or in a spot one wouldnt normally look. I dont want the deer to see it either, since that is the main goal, is to take pictures of the deer.

That's an awesome camera Scott. I have never owned a camera simply because the lands i hunt is a ways away from where I live making checking them etc..not worth it. But from the sounds of it. This would be the way to go.

Would also be great for an ice house, with the sign nofishfisherman said.

That is pretty dang cool Scott. I would consider getting one even though I am less than a mile from where my camera is set up. Seems like it would be a good idea for me not to be leaving my scent there switching cards all the time. What will they think of next?

Ever hear of a camlockbox?? Not a complete theft deterrent, but they are gonna have to saw the tree down to get mine off or have torch in the woods. It will deter most.

I lost two cameras with Camlockboxes last year.

First one the bolts were pried out of the tree, and the cable cut.

Second one the bolts were cut off between the box and the tree, and the cable cut.

Much better than just strapping it to the tree, but if someone wants it, they are gonna get it.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
