How do I kill this stuff?

I bought my place in 95 and the previous owner had a horseradish patch.

It won't die. Seriously, this stuff is bionic, borderline terminator.

It laughs at 2-4-D. It eats Round Up for breakfast. If you mow it, it spreads. I've hit it with un-diluted Tordon to the point it was dripping Tordon for days...........and it's still there. Crossbow? Plllleeeassse, it just wants more. I've dug it up...........HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!! That just makes it spread more. Diesel fuel, drain oil, big fire on top of it. I've pee'd on it , the dog pees on it, a neighbor kid actually peed on it and I think it actually likes it.

I like horseradish on my brats as much as the next guy but I'm not wanting a big arsed patch of it in the back yard. How do I kill this stuff?

In the mean time, anyone want some horseradish? Come get it.

Now regarding killing it.... holy buckets. If Tordon didnt do it, you are pretty much doomed I think. wow.

Come on down for some pheasant hunting or pothole ice fishing, bring a trailer, and take it all home.

I like a jar from time to time buy daym. This stuff is a weed.

Lol, That stuff is tough. Gophers help keep mine in check, and actually had some choked out by a crazy phlox explosion this year. Heard pouring PBR on new growth might work. But, yeah, good luck to ya, unless a bunch of old german zombies take over the town, it will probably still be around long after you are......

I've got 2 plants on the edge of the garden. Dig the roots on one plant every year. It's been in the same place for as long as we've been here. Dang it makes some wonderful horseradish sauce.

How big is the patch Eric? If it really matters enough to drop some multiple multiple hundos, and the patch is still small enough; know you know a lot of peoples..... and suppose you could get ahold of of some of the Belton green stripe landscape fabric and some sod staples at a wholesaler .....in the 12 ft rolls......and try to smother it over the course of a few years.

I know a guy who put a cement drive over a patch and 2 years later it was growing around the edges and a shoot or 2 was coming up through the expansion joints. Maybe a beer or 2 poured on it, will slow it down.

I made the mistake of putting it in my garden once. I did manage to kill it. a friend of mine gave me some stuff, think its not legal to use anymore, but it did kill it. the next year I had carryover from it. I still have it but don't know how good it is? you can most certainly have it.

I googled horseradish. one of the articles said or was titled how to get rid of horseradish. the best result from what I got out of it was to dig it out then plant grass over it and keep mowing it off.

Took me a couple years to finally grease out my old patch. I wanted it out of there as we had reconfigured the garden and it was in the way. Plus the patch was 10 years old & old roots don't make the best horseradish, awfully woody. The past 2 years I used a glyphosate + 2,4-D combo to soften it up in the fall, then beat on it with the tiller in the spring, cleaning up as many of the crowns as I could see. Any time after that I'd see new growth appearing in the old patch, I'd beat on it some more with the tiller, again looking for crowns or plants that were loose. The past 2 dry summers probably helped. It's gone now and I should reset a new patch elsewhere with tops from another patch I have.

And I tried planting some this spring... nada. That'll teach me to buy it in the plastic bag at Menards. If I get it going it can fight the quack and the mint and the black walnuts and buckthorn in what used to be my garden...

I have seen them at hose kind of places. cant believe they get the money they do for them. I just take the tops you cut off and all the little roots and replant them and your off and runnining with a new crop next year!!!!!!
