Bryce
Less than 12 hours away and not a single post. Good job Big 10. Go Sioux.
yakfisher
Does this mean we need an NCHC thread and the Choker boys can wait for Penn State to set a thread up for the little 6 conference?Go Sioux!
Bear55
Yup, I don't know anyone who is excited about the changes. Will be glad to have college puck back but man its just not the same, might take a while to get use to this mess. I hope Penn State just gets pounded on for basically the rest of my life. Bear55
They are the flickertails from the new super conference.

BartmanMN
I'll be at the Huskies game tonight for the grand re-opening of the Herb Brooks National Sports Center.
yakfisher
Easy boys, after all flickertail is just a fancy way to spell gopher. But seriously, Army at Penn State on the big ten network? That should really bring the ratings. Hockey on that network will be replaced by soccer and lacrosse before spring. And for the third time this week I am gonna have to agree with Bear. This season is gonna be weird with the conference blown to pieces. At least we still get regular shots at a bunch of the good old WCHA teams you guys only have Sconni. Bryce
The SEC of college hockey? Crimson Tide doing all they can to emulate The Fighting Sioux
CaptainMusky
I stillndont know these fighting Sioux or Sioux are in which you speak?I've heard university of north Dakota may have a good program again but had a scare tonight by a substandard opponent. By the way the whoiux fans talk it would be kinda like an FBS (whioux) team playing an FCS team go bison
Bryce
Only 6 or 7 hours of the work week left and then I can enjoy some cocktails too.
Bear55
The SEC of college hockey? Only in their dreams. With the western conferences destroyed and BC killing everyone the past decade you could make a case for (puke) Hockey East.
yakfisher
How about we all pretend you didn't say that and then the case won't even need to be contemplated.I hate BC.
MUSKY18
Only thing I hated more than the CCHA was Hockey East!I am a GOPHERS fan through and through. Hate St Cloud, Mankato, Sconni, and most of all the Sioux, BUT, I was pumped all week long when there was a big showdown between these teams. The rivalries are second to none. Now I get to think about the Gophers playing a stinking club level team from Penn State that turned D1 so they could play in the Big 10 conference. YUCK. Much as I know it will never happen, I'd like to see the Big 10 Hockey implode and go back to being the WCHA.
yakfisher
So I turned on the TV to check out some little 6 hockey, well I guess I'll have to settle for some women's volleyball Instead. At least FSN spent some money for the gopher games. And Go Sioux!
Bear55
Gophers feeding on cupcakes lately but it looks like the freshmen are contributing and the offense is in good shape. After all the firepower we lost I was a little worried. Next 4 games should be interesting, BC and Notre Dame.
solbes
These new conferences pretty much blow. Money won out over the intense rivalries of the last 40 years.Duluth lost on NCHC opening night, but won quite easily on Saturday over CC. Transition year that could be okay, or we could be the dormat of the new division. Strong underclassmen where I hope we can make a push the next 2 years. Bear55
Yep the whole thing sucks, I love to hate Michigan but its really not anywhere near the level of the Sioux and nothing will ever change that.

Bear55
Not sure what to make of these Gophers, they are looking a little too good out there. Thought it was going to be a rebuilding year but wow those freshman are lighting it up.
CaptainMusky
They are definitely entertaining. I tell you what, that Friday night game against BC was one of the best hockey games I have seen in years. Possibly since the Gophers beat Maine for the NC. It was end to end and lots of good chances by both teams. That 17 year old goalie from BC is a stud! They played the other guy Sunday which I think was a bit reflective in the score as well because he wasnt quite as good.At this point in the season I think our Freshman are definitely taking up the scoring slack that left from last year's team.I do have a sinking suspicion that Mike Reilly is playing his last season with the Gophers. Man that kid can skate and he is a much headier player this year than last.If he played his full eligibility out I have no doubt he would rewrite the Defensive scoring record books. PierBridge
Quote: Thought it was going to be a rebuilding year but wow those freshman are lighting it up. We "GOPHERS" don't rebuild we re-load! Funny how everybodys all mad now that they can't play the Gophers in hockey. HMMMMM?
yakfisher
We just hate seeing the Gophers play teams that don't hate them.
hoppe56307
How about the SCSU Huskies, #2 team in the country!
CaptainMusky
It doesnt matter where teams are at in the standings right now because there is a long season ahead. Having said that the Gophers are #1! LOLI am pleasantly surprised, no, ecstatic with the youthful scoring on the Gophers this year.I thought with all the early departures that scoring was going to be a bit of an issue, but man was I wrong. These Freshman can play and score! Two significant areas for improvement are: Power Play (50th in the nation) and penalty kill (also around 50th in the nation). Its early and lots of youngsters, but those numbers MUST improve to be a factor in the games that matter. On a side note the "Super Conference" isnt really looking all that super right now. North Dakota is a major disappointment. Why they are still ranked is beyond me. They are terrible right now.
