whitewater wma

I worked in Rochester for a while which allowed me to bowhunt Whitewater for 2 seasons. My best advice would be to hunt during the week. I had good action then and very little on the weekends. If hunting on the weekends you'll have to get away from the crowds. But that was about 20 years ago.

Just An FYI. The DNR is opening whitewater to the kids for a Firearm deer hunt MEA weekend. The 16th through the 20th. I will be taking my boys down to hunt that week But yes its a great Area with plenty of space to roam.

Yes, the youth hunt is going on in there, however I was down there last year when it was on and it was no biggie, lots of space. There are a lot of deer down there, I have hunted bow and gun for the last 12 years. Don't waste your time sitting on a field edge waiting for deer to come out. They generally feed in fields after night. The key there is finding some of the thickest spots possible where the deer move during light. I have seen my biggest bucks ever on hoof down there, just have not killed one of the giants. Have killed some nice bucks though. For some pointers would be to hike in and find some good sign and set up, some of my best sits are ones that I find that afternoon and set up... Good luck!

Anyone else hunt there this weekend? I made it down for a Saturday evening bow hunt. Set up on a bed I was pretty sure would hold a buck but noting in it, or he sat till after dark, which I doubt...My brother in law was with me and he saw a few does and a small 8 that got a pass..
