Ice Auger Abuse

Just dump the gas that's in there now and put some treated gas in there. It's a good idea to use treated gas and leave the gas in there over summer. Then start the auger every few weeks. I was running them dry the last 3 out of 5 summers and finding out that fuel lines would dry out and crack when I did. Leaving the treated fuel running it every few weeks allows it to keep lubed up and less fuel line problems.

thanks for reminding me. Im normally really good about starting mine everytime I mow the lawn, but this summer time has gotten away from me big time. I need to start it tomorrow. Funny part is I bet it only takes 1-3 pulls even after sitting all summer! lol cant beat that!

I always use conditioned fuel and never run the tank out before storing for the summer. Never a problem in over thirty years of ice fishing and have only owned two augers in that time period. I do dump the tank and add fresh fuel in the fall before use. I probably start my auger once or twice during a summer. I also use synthetic s stroke oil in it.
