pikestabber
I was going through some gear in the basement the other day and was bummed to find out that I neglected to run the gas out of my auger last season. What is the best way to deal with that now?
Lawrence Luoma
Just dump the gas that's in there now and put some treated gas in there. It's a good idea to use treated gas and leave the gas in there over summer. Then start the auger every few weeks. I was running them dry the last 3 out of 5 summers and finding out that fuel lines would dry out and crack when I did. Leaving the treated fuel running it every few weeks allows it to keep lubed up and less fuel line problems.
Eric_Kruger
thanks for reminding me. Im normally really good about starting mine everytime I mow the lawn, but this summer time has gotten away from me big time. I need to start it tomorrow. Funny part is I bet it only takes 1-3 pulls even after sitting all summer! lol cant beat that!
cold one sd
I always use conditioned fuel and never run the tank out before storing for the summer. Never a problem in over thirty years of ice fishing and have only owned two augers in that time period. I do dump the tank and add fresh fuel in the fall before use. I probably start my auger once or twice during a summer. I also use synthetic s stroke oil in it.
pikestabber
What are you guys adding to make treated fuel? Stabil? Seafoam? How much?
gunner55
1 oz per gal of seafoam in all our gas at the lake for us.
pikestabber
1 oz per gal of seafoam in all our gas at the lake for us. And you run this fuel blend all year, or just for storage?
fisherman-andy
I store my auger wet with little fuel. I use Amsoil Saber pre mix 100:1 with my fuel and will add a little fuel to the tank to fire it up every 3-4 months to keep it lubed. I never dump out remaining fuel. Thats a waste. Grainbelt
Your can pour that little bit of fuel in your car/truck tank.
Esox_Magnum
I never run mine dry either, start it up a couple times a summer and top off with a fresh 80:1 mix come ice up....
Ryan_V
just top it off with fresh gas and oil and fire her up. modern gas will not go bad that fast
hamms-scooter
I never run mine dry either. I run it when I mow the yard. Good way to remember. Never had an issue. Non oxy with 80:1 amsoil sabre pro. Breaking in new Tanaka at 50:1 and will do the same with that motor also.
