Making a snoopy pole float?

SkunkedAgain

Recommended Posts

I bought a pink princess pole for my 21mo daughter. She loves dangling it over the edge of the boat, poking at weeds, poking at things in the boat, etc. The problem is that upon first water use, she eventually tossed it into the drink three times. The one time Mrs. Skunked Again was on duty she let it sink, which meant I got to feel around in the 4ft water until I found it buried in the muck.

Needless to say, this model doesn't float. Anyone have a good way that they turned a non-floater into a floating rod? Old wine corks? Foam wrapped around the rod somewhere and somehow?

I connected a section (3-4') of rope to the handle(really thin stuff in a dog leash) of the rod and clipped the other end to my boys life vests. That way when they casted it out and they forgot to hold on to it... I just helped them drag it back in...

I was going to suggest the spray foam too, i did this to my daughters princess pole last year as she lost one off the dock and I didnt wanna be replacing them every few weeks out lol

you can drop it in the lake and it bobs like a bobber handle up.

FYI....just dont use too much...blew one up before i got it right... smile

I think I would pay money to see that!

I had my boys fish ultra lite cheap combo poles with open faced reels. They all learned how to fish an open face 5 ft rod like a professional bass angler by the time they turned 5. Thats all they have ever known. Can't tell you how many times people have commented on how well they handle an open face.

I know several guides on lake of woods the have the pipe insulation wrapped on rods, even for adults. One bunch of guys that had more money then common sence were fishing there. one set the hook on a fish, went to hand to another guy, that did want to crank it in. The rod goes over the side of boat, Guides son was trolling 100yards away. Went past the spot snagged the line of the rod, his guys cranked in a 13lb walleye. The rich a##holes thought they should still get the fish. WRONG. Now most of the guys I know have it on their rods.
