little lund

I joined the Lund family last week with the purchase of a 1980 s-14 dlx deep and wide. This is the biggest little boat I could find, if you know what I mean. I am going away from the big merc 50 4 cyl and going to a yamaha 15 hp 2 stroke. great engine. Boat has factory floor and split center bench that was convered to storage on each side. I think the addition of a bow mount is going to work out nice and possibly a front livewell. I am going to just use it and see how I will tweak it. Package also came with a lowrance x91 and new minnkota transom troller. Boat has new paint and graphics and not a dent or leak what so ever. all this for a price tag I just couldn't pass up $1750. will be perfect for small lakes I fish and rivers. It is rated for 35hp so a future 25 hp or 20 4 stroke would be nice someday. This yamaha is a sweetheart engine with the 1 pull and runnin start. Any of you have this lund or a yamaha ?

I've got a 14' Lund Laker that is deep and wide with a Yamaha 25 horse two stroke. It goes about 25 MPH with just me and my gear and a little slower with another person but it is not a good boat if you have three people on board. There just isn't much room to move around. But for me it is a great little fishing boat. I am looking to get a bigger boat for fishing and tubing with the kids but I will probably keep my 14'. Just too nice to see go.

Recently got my first boat...a deep and wide 14' tiller (i think mine might be a small-big boat as opposed to a big-small boat but...) with a 15hp yammie 4 stroke. Could use a few more hp but for the small lake it lives on works just fine. I get up earlier than the guys with the fancy bass boats, and i'm not tournament fishing so its never a race to my spots. Absolutely loving this little rig! Got my gps/chartplotter on there, came with a livewell, still needs a bow mount trolling motor-prolly an offseason purchase/christmas present.

Sounds like you got a great little rig for a terrific price!

I've owned a 14 ft. shallow hull Lund for 30+ years. Put a reliable little Merc on it a few years back. I've caught so many fish out of this boat I can't even begin to recall.

It's so nice to be able to muscle this little boat into small lakes, and rivers where there are shallow, almost non-existent landings. Lakes and rivers where bigger boats simply cannot get in. I've also had this little boat in Lake Superior dragging spoons behind Dipsy Divers catching salmon and trout. You obviously gotta be a little careful about the weather, but these little Lund boats are super safe, and stable in the water.

Only drawback I can find is space, or lack thereof. When my kids were little we had no problem. Now that they're all nearly as big, or bigger then I am, we had to upgrade to a larger, more powerful boat. But I'll still never part with my little Lund.

Of course, my 14 footer is only a narrow, shallow hull. Always thought it would've been nice to have the deep and wide model. They give you a lot more interior space.

Honestly, it really does sound like you got a great deal on your boat. Congrats, and have fun! wink

Hey thanks guys! I know it isn't a new pro v or big rig but that is what is fun about it for me. I fish smaller waters and on occasion go to the pond so not a big deal for me. I hav never had a Lund before and can't believe how it cuts through the water. Best I have seen for small boats. I would like to throw a 4 stroke on someday a 25 would be great.

The first new boat I ever bought I was a 1983 14ft Lund s-14 deluxe with a 15 Johnson. I everntually upgraded the motor to a 30hp. I kept that boat for 9 years and fished everywhere, St. Louis River, Lake Superior, Vermillion, LOW, Rainy River, Rainy Lake, Lac Suel and many more in Canada . I also used it on just about every lake within 35 miles of Duluth. I had to be smart about taking it on big water, but it was a great boat

I had a little Crestliner just like your Lund and fished it with an ancient Evinrude 18 on the back, eventually swapped a merc 25 on there.

Had that boat probably for 8 years, eventually upgraded when I started Muskie fishing as space was a problem, and my wife didnt like getting wet when we went on bigger lakes smile .

They are great boats.

Jeeeeeezzzz. We have a little 14' Wide Lund we repainted and carpeted ten years ago. Haven't used it in past 4-5 years and now it just sits down by the shed. But you guys are right, nice handy little boat. Just too small for couple old fat guys. We use the Crestliner Sportfish now.

I have a shallow 14 lund and it currently has a 15hp evinride 2 stroke on it. I can get 24 with the wifey and 4 year old in it with small amounts of gear. I plan to drop a 15 4 stroke on it next spring and add a deck/dry storage to the bow to get the front end to stay down in waves, Im hoping by updating the motor I wont lose any speed. First boat I ever fished out of was dads old lil red, now My daughter is fishing out of her dads ol lil red.....it will be hers someday!
