Jigs

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone knows a company that makes a good blue jig? I use a lot of black/blue but I want some that have a lot more of the blue strands vs black, or even all blue strands. I used to like the lil hustler jigs in a saphire blue but can no longer find them. I have searched most of the inventory on TW but have had little success.

Thanks for you help.

I can't speak highly enough of Northstar Baits jig's, only jigs I use anymore. Chris is a great guy, I bet he would hook you up. If you go to his HSOforum his email is on it. I'm a black/blue kinda guy, but like more black on the jig and change craw colors with more or less blue vs black, but thats just what i have confidence in!!

Not sure if they are considered a good jig or not, but the Terminator Pro Series Jigs come in Blue. They have a picture of them on Cabelas HSOforum to see if that is the Blue your looking for. I have a blue one, but don't use it alot cause I don't use jigs a ton and when I do I seem to use black and blue mostly, which I don't have any Terminators in that color.

You can get all you need if you google "lure parts online" or fishing skirts dot com.

You can buy heads, and skirt materials and have it all in a couple days, all for about $2 a jig. The heads sold by fs dot com are of higher quality.

Or call those guys above, pay $5 a lure, and hope it shows up before winter.

Most of markula's posts are just exercises in trolling - no surprise here.

I've ordered twice from NorthStar Custom, and was very happy with both the price and the time. Plus I'd much rather support a local dude who's an HSO regular than an anonymous HSOforum.

Not trolling. I've tried to buy their swim jigs and football jigs on a couple occasions, and have been told that it would be a few weeks before i'd get them. The make some nice looking jigs, and when in a bind i'd like to get them locally and immediately. Maybe Capras will stock them someday...but for now i'll just stick with AT jigs, and Sumpn Sumpn, or whatever I make.

I am not going to go to far into this Markula because I don't know who you are or if I have ever talked to you, but they are in stock at my retail store, they are on my HSOforum, we are constantly working hard trying to decrease wait times. With that said if I can't keep up with my HSOforum, my retail store, why on earth would I work on stocking other stores and giving them 40% off? You probably will not see my jigs in any of the retailers in the cities for awhile, quite possibly never. I am not interested in having 15 employees and the headache that goes along with trying to get employees to produce a quality product, I have been down that road for the last 2 years and have changed my business model, I am not interested in competing with Strike King, Booyah, or Terminator on quantity, because I know for a fact that they can't compete on quality and that is my niche. Hopefully pulling back from all wholesale stuff you will soon see a stock on our HSOforum, and a larger stock in our store, along with alot of other product that has been in development stage for way to long with no time to actually get the product out. SO in short do not hold your breath on seeing our products in stores, it doesn't fit our model and is not going to happen.

What's the address for your retail location?

It is the same address that is on my webpage, if I don't have it in stock, I can more than likely tie it while you wait. The reason I more than likely couldn't help you when you were in a pinch is the fact that is not fair to everyone else in front of you waiting for there order, I can't push orders back because someone needs theirs in a hurry, its not right and not the way I do business.

I am well aware of North Star jigs, my partner and i just took first placed in league the other night and I was primarily using a NS jig in 18 fow. I was just hoping someone had something quick in mind.

Thanks for the info.

What is trolling? Besides the last sentence in this post, I don't see what the controversy is. For people interested in making their own jigs, there is some value to this post. I see people plugging North Star Jigs, Hitch It Trailer Keepers, Thorne Brothers etc. all of the time without getting backlash. What is the difference here?

besides the last line there is no problem with it, I know not everyone is going to buy my jigs, there are a lot of DIY stuff you can do, BOSS and Fishing Skirts do an excellent job wiht their heads and skirts, I get 99% of my skirting material from Fishing Skirts, and helped out on the development of the Powder Paint also and now use that on alot of my jigs. But to say $5 a jig and blahh blahhh blahh gets my blood boiling, especially when my most expensive jig is $3.70, I was just in Cabelas last night and that was around the average for a cheap mass produced jig.

Huh. Never dawned on me that you did the retail thing out of the shop. I may have to poke my head in someday and say hey...

I basically use two brands of jigs... Northland Jungle Jigs, which I still love for their versatility and head design, and NorthStars. I guess I don't find it odd to have to wait a bit to get an order once in a while. They're not a mass production jig. The price for the quality is ridiculously reasonable. They're worth a little wait once in a while, and most of the time it isn't much of a wait to begin with.

Plus Chris is willing to make my Double Top Secret RK's Bluegill swim jig color for me...so that's nice. smile
