Crestliner warranty issues

arrow

Question

Anyone else have problems with Crestliner handling warranty issues. If so who did you contact. My original dealer went under so I lost that contact. I have tried Crestliner HSOforum contact and they just don't respond. Hoping someone else has been through this and may be able to help me cut through the red tape. It's always easy to get help when you want to buy something but hard to get any service after the purchase.

I built three versions of Crestliners on their HSOforum with their boat builder. All three times a representative from the factory called and inquired if I had any questions and steered me to a dealer. There's people there, call them.

Crestliner only warranties the floors for 10 years. They use a five ply marine grade plywood per the warranty rep I spoke to. The warranty is only good for original owner as a heads up for you considering a used Crestliner. I'm a little disappointed in the relatively short life span given I store indoors winters and keep under a canopy on a lift in the summer. I'm curious if this is an issue for a lot of boat owners not just those with Crestliners.

.... keep under a canopy on a lift in the summer.....

That might be the problem. If the carpet is soaked and you cover it (crank it up tight to a canopy) that would cause issues.

My dad and I have owned crestliners that were up to 12 years old with no issues.

My boat is a 2000 Crestliner Rampage and I never cranked tight to the canopy. Always left room to keep air circulating. Its been a good boat other than this issue but its just kind of disappointing to be replacing the floor this soon but perhaps this is normal for Crestliners? I have nothing to compare it to other than my old boats which did not have a carpeted floor.

In general, it seems to me that carpeted floors don't last as long as vinyl.

My boat is 35 years old this summer. Just replaced the back half of the floor last year. the center section is still perfect. I might replace it just to get at the waterlogged foam under the wood, but the wood itself is still solid. And I am no lightweight...

I had my FishHawk in for warranty work a couple of years ago. Frustrating experience. The door/hatch in the bow was getting soft. The repair that was done was done pretty well, but they did not fix everything. Prior to picking up my boat, I must have called a dozen times and left messages to check on progress. They were never returned. They had my boat for 5 months. Did not start calling until about 4 1/2 months in. I was not a chronic pain in the rear. Finally, some nice lady answered and was very helpful. When I picked the boat up even tho it was not totally repaired, I was just relieved to get it back. Don't know if the warranty work is still done in Little Falls or not. My dealer had gotten out of the business so I dealt with Crestliner directly. Love my boat, but the customer service was pretty shaky. Hope your have a better experience. Good luck.

Other than the floor issue I too have had good luck with my boat. The lady on the phone said they still do warranty repairs at the Crestliner factory. She said they use a marine grade plywood to make repairs. Her story was the plywood has improved dramatically in the last 10 years. That is news to me. I like the idea of a vinyl floor and based upon the notes above of a floor lasting 35 years its sounds like the way to go. Like most companies I find warranties are pretty useless. Most companies know how long the product will last and the warranty is just beyond that point. Moreover, when you need a warranty repair they just make it a nightmare. There are exceptions of course, my Toyota dealer has been really great to deal with. I now have a spring project I guess and with the amount of ice left on the lakes some time to do it.

I made the call and they told me in so many words to pound sand. I guess I should be glad they did not take my boat in or I might not get it back. I guess its just the way they do business.

I guess its just the way they do business.

I'm sorry about your experiences, but I can tell you from my own experience that that is not the way they handled my warranty work. I was the original owner of the boat, so maybe that's the deal, but anyway, Here's my story:

I had developed a "Soft Spot" by my livewell and was afraid it would collapse it not taken care of. I call Crestliner and was told that it was covered under warranty and they would repair the deck.

They did have my boat over the winter, which was fine, and while repairing the deck, also found a soft spot forming in the bow.

Enough rambling here, long story short, They repaired the entire front deck, replaced ALL the boat carpet because they couldn't match the color so it looked right. This was on a 10 year boat. My boat was ready for opener and couldn't be happier.

Again, sorry for your problems and your situation, but to say that's the way they do business, does not cover all situations, they did an over and above job for me.

I was told warranty is only good for 10 years so good thing your boat developed the problem at the 10 year mark and not the 11 as you would have received different outcome. I'm in business owner myself and we warranty our work as well and I would never treat a customer like Crestliner treated me. Just my opinion and based upon one persons experience though it has been backed up by a couple others on the forum.

The 10 year warranty for a new boat is life time per Crestliners web site and Brochures.

I am assuming that you did not but the boat new, if you did, you have a lifetime warranty as said above.

Either way, sorry your experience was not what you expected.

I spoke to a customer rep and actually got an email back after two weeks and they both state that Crestliner has only a 10 year warranty on the boat floors and only for the original owners. This is important information for anyone considering a Crestliner boat.

I'm not trying to start anything here, but I posted the Crestliner warranty in my post above. You can keep saying what you claim the warranty is, but what I posted was directly from their web site.

After seeing your reply yesterday, I called Crestliner and left a message about the flooring warranty and they confirmed that it is a LIFETIME warranty for the original owners.

Again, I don't know whom your getting your information from, but it is not correct. The quote below is what they referred me to as to their warranty. See Below:

Quote:
Limited Lifetime Floor Warranty. Crestliner will repair or replace, at its sole option, any defect in material

and workmanship on flooring panels, and damage to flooring panels as a result of fungal decay/rot, termites

and/or other wood eating insects, when such damage or defect would make the panel structurally unfit for

its intended application, if reported during the period of ownership of the original owner

.

You can choose to believe your source(s) or you can believe the written warranty, which is available on their web site or from any dealer that sells Cresliner boats. People can read the warranty information I posted, or call Crestliner or a dealer, and draw their own conclusion based on the information they receive.

Good luck with your boat.

I once bought a Garmin fish finder (25 years or more ago ). It had a lifetime warranty also . When it broke and I tried to get it fixed they would not honor the warranty. I asked about the life time warranty and they responded by saying the warranty is for the EXPECTED life time of the unit not my life and that they only honored it for 4 years. I suspect the same dump is going on here

No problems with my warranty from Crestliner. My boat was over 10 years old when I contacted Crestliner. When I contacted them they asked for the serial number confirmed I was the original owner and asked that I bring the boat to a Crestliner dealer and they would take care of it. Two weeks later the dealer called all taken care of. Great service! planning on buying a new boat in next year or so and Crestliner will be on the top of the list.
