tom fellegy
if the powers that be said, ice fishing is now illegal, i myself would not be disappointed. i guess it is time to start looking into going south for a month or two during the winter
lispeej
Two of my brothers just didn't care for ice fishing as much as open water fishing....until they both invested in their own equipment. Now that they have their own equipment, seems like they want to go out every weekend. I think that once you put your own hard earned money into buying gear, doesn't matter what sport it is,,,,you'll enjoy it more. It's like fishing with someone else's fishing rod. It isn't just the same. BTW, I love ice fishing, and cannot get enough of it. I would rather be at the lake relaxing, than be at work. Fish do really taste better in the winter vs summer. JakeJ_Mn
Boring ARE YOU CRAZY??? As I type this, I am in my wheelhouse - lines down catching fish on LOTW. My V hot spot works fine(I am out just north of Pine) Relaxing in my slippers, movie on the tv, grill will be warming up soon for lunch. I find the ice more challenging(and a lot more work) than in my boat. Once set up in the wheelhouse, we use sleds to move around if the bite slows. I also note that ice fishing is more fun IF you have or can afford the equipment. Otherwise - drive up in your car and all the resorts will see to your needs. Not to get off the subject - but essential equipment for my ice fishing - v plow on the truck - snowmobile(widetrack) - thermal portables - along with many $$$ more of things we can't live without:)

Vitreus
You're probably bored because you're not catching anything. Stop waiting around and staring at your flasher and go find some fish! Use that A.D.D. power.

buzbunni
If we could only have ice all year round... That would be the life. Indeed!
PEATMOSS
Boring is a little strong for me, but I much prefer being out on the open water in my roomy boat, wearing shorts and sandals to being dressed like an Antarctic explorer and sitting all scrunched up like a monkey humping a football over an ice hole. OnAFly
I go with the seasons. In the fall I can't wait for the ice. Come March, I'm still on the ice, but looking forward to springs when I can get the long rods out and start huckin flies.
BLACKJACK
I like ice fishing over open water fishing because I have more free time int he winter, spring and summer there are just too many other things to do - mowing, garden, food plots, camping. Plus I'm not a fan of cooking under the bright sun in the boat.
brook100
There is no greater thrill than catching a BIG fish on a miniature rod through the ice!!!
