MidCoast
I have a 10 inch lazer bit. I want to downsize. Which Strikemaster bit do you prefer? 8, 7, or 6 inch lazer bit? Is the chipper blade better?I like to fish for Walleyes, Tullibees, and Crappies, pretty much it.
bobbymalone
chipper blade isn't as finicky and doesn't need sharpening as often. You can also reopen holes. It isn't going to be as fast though.I have a 10" chipper and am thinking of downsizing too, just to drop some weight.
gonehunting
Both augers are nice. Lazer blades will dull faster in "dirty" ice, meaning lakes that have windblown dirt or alot of sediment in water before freezeup. I've found these conditions in many ND lakes and Lake Winnipeg. Therefore I like the chipper in the "dirty" ice situations because they don't dull as fast. The majority of my fishing done in MN is with the 8"Lazer auger. I use the 10" chipper style on Lake Winnipeg. Hope that isn't too confusing.
dan z
Good luck finding one now but the 224 8" bit is the best drill I have ever used I'm just lucky I have one. The new lazers are also very fast drills. I personally wouldn't like a chipper as they are a little slower. I have a buddy looking to get a drill for his also. He has has a chipper 10" and it's a bit much to hole hop with it.
walleye-
Midcoast I have a new 8 inch lazer bit and a 10 inch chipper which I use to reopen holes and I'm thinking about getting a 10 inch lazer bit. So they are both the same size. If your thinking about a 8 inch lazer I might be willing to swap with you assuming your is in good shape. otterman91105
I prefer strikemast 8'' with a chipper blade. Chipper blade helps if you are trying to reopen holes.

sevenmmm
I have a Strike Lite with the carbon auger and think it is smooth and easy. The only problem is it ices up in cold weather and I have to chisel it out every few holes - after the PAM cooking spray wears off.
