Whats your favorite family resort

So I would like to take the family (children ages 7, 7 & 6) to a cabin this summer. Does anyone have a favorite family resort that offers daily activities to keep the kids busy and having fun? Being on a decent fishing lake would also be a bonus!

Thanks for any input!

Cragun's on Gull is the ABSOLUTE place to be with a family and kids that age. They always have activities and events galore, so the kids stay entertained and Ma' and Pa' can have a lot of fun too.

You can check out our favorite at lakesideonlida dot com. Good fishing, great beach, great sand for swimming, swim raft, small marina with safe conveniant boat parking, the marina also has panfish for the kids to fish. You can boat or drive to maplewood state park. Not a lot of babysitter type activities for kids, but tons of stuff for them to do. We haven't been there in a few years had too much fun on our last stay and had to shop for a cabin of our own. Where ever you go hope your family has a blast.

Sandy Beach resort on gull lake. Great little resort with yard games and private access. Zorbaz is right up the road, the cabins are cozy clean and priced right for the family looking to not spend a ton.

this is the view from cabin 6.....

Another +1 for Craigun's. Wife had a P.E. Conference there one summer. The resort had planned activities for the kids, wife went to conference stuff and I went fishing all day. I'm thinking it's pricey, but my wife's portion was picked up by the conference so I have no clue as to price. But, since the OP did not include price points, I went for Craigun's.

Check out Appledorns sunset bay resort on Mille Lacs. I've been there plenty of times and will be returning a bunch more.

When Appledorns used to be Karpens we used to take a family trip there every year. My dad's uncle lives probly 10 houses down from the resort. Haven't stayed there but we keep an eye on what's been developing when we visit and it looks like a spectacular place now. We just don't go anymore since family fun trips turned into us boys growing up and roughing it in a tent since the trips are fishing focused now!

We like Black Pine Beach on Whitefish Chain in Pequot Lakes. I think it was last year they were named resort owner of the year for Minnesota. Well deserved. Great resort and well run. We use to go to Clamshell Beach on same chain when I was a kid. Another nice place.

I'm going to be the curmudgeon on this one.

Look for an old fashioned cabin with a lodge that sells beer, candy and bait.

If the kids want to have a pool and video games and all of that hugga mugga take them to the Dells.

If you want to show them what it's like to spend some quiet time up north smelling the wood smoke, the pine, and laying on the dock and watching the stars then go simple. Leave the video games, cell phones and DVD players at home. In fact give a try to not having anything that uses electricity other than a GPS and a sonar unit. When they get bored tell them to read a book or go row the boat across the lake and back.
