sick

SERIOUSLY FUNNY BECAUSE I FOUND IT ABOUT 100YTDS FROM THE AUSTIN MN CITY SEWER WATER ;WAIST WATER TREATMENT PLANT (AKA SH*T PLANT) sick

IT WAS IN CLEAR FLOWING RAPPID (SMALL) AREA IN THE CEDAR RIVER THE TOP WAS STICKING UP AND ATFIRST SIGHT I THOUGHT IT WAS A HUGE SNAPPER TURTLE UP FOR AIR,THEN HAD TO KEEP IT AFTER SEEING ITS STRANGENESS.

BUTT ,IT LOOKS LIKE A ONCE LIVING THING WITH THE CELL LIKE SHAPES ON THE BASE.full-2058-30706-rocks005.jpg

Well food is usually something that was once living... until we eat it... and crapp it out...

From the stories I hear of the Cedar... I don't know if I would've stuck my hand in the water to remove anything

What it does really look like to me. If you have ever been out to Yellow Stone park and seen the very small mud pots very slowy bubble, it does kind of looks like one that stopped forming after a while and harded? wink

I sent this post and pictures to my son who is in his last year taking his Geology degree in collage and he sent back this reply.

It looks like limestone/dolomite that was deposited in a cave - like a stalagmite<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalagmite> that was broken off and washed away.

Ask him if he can scratch it with a penny or a piece of glass, also ask him if the sample bubbles if you poor some vinegar on it.

Not sure what the test things mean but if you try them let me know and I will ask him what the results are you should be looking for? confused

thank you for helping me,

vinegar has no effect when poured anywhere.

penny wont scratch it

I don't have broken glass so I used a scissors and still couldn't mark it.

it feels heavy and strong like, I could throw it and it wouldn't break (not brittle, or sand/limestone)

it is almost 2 lbs. and is the size of my fist.

That is most definitely a fossilized coral. It is of the acanthastrea genus. They are actually a very popular genus of corals for saltwater fish tanks. Other types of this genus are the common brain corals. The skeleton is made by laying down layers of calcium carbonate.
