JordyED
I am looking at a recondition FL-20 on an online auction. I am not familiar with this process. Is it a good idea for me to purchase this unit?
BartmanMN
If you are paying for a reconditioned one, you may as well just get it directly from Vexilar, that way you know it is 100% ready.Unless Vexilar is the place that happens to be the ones selling them through the auction site. Steve Foss
Buyer beware if it's eeeebbbbay or any other online acution. But if they have excellent buyer protection policies, like eeeebbbbayy does, and the seller has top ratings, I'd buy with confidence. I buy a lot of gear off eeeebbbbayy and have yet to have a bad experience. But I'm pretty careful.
harvey lee
I would not be afraid at all to buy it off e-baay as long as the sellers history is great. If one recieves any kind of warranty from Vexilar on a reconditioned unit, I wonder then if that is transfurable from the original purchaser to you. Is it a dealer offering the reconditioned unit?
choppermn27
No way do you ebaaaay a large purchase like this. You call jack at actions electronics in Anoka first then check vexilars HSOforum if he doesn't have what you are looking for he can also order a refurb from them and get it for less than thier HSOforum. My friend had a couple of eBaaaay purchases not ever arrive and warned me.If its 50 or less ill order on eBaaaay anything more forget it. simey1
I have bought lots of things on hsolist. I look at if there is a money back guarentee for a length of time. I usually feel pretty good about the purchase then. If it says "no returns" I usually don't invest much. You always have to weigh the differences. It's much safer to pay more and be happy. gonehunting
Check out the online store in Walker and the other in Grand Rapids. They have Reeds and Glen in their online names. I bought an FL-22 pro pack II for $476 plus tax. They had the ultrapack at $517.00 plus tax. They will price match each other. Some very good deals out there right now. No to change the subject of the original OP but, if your friend did not recieve his package, he can go back to e-baay and it will be taken care of or he will get his money back.In 200 purchases, I had one issue and it was resolved right away but e-baaaa. Yes, I have purchased some items more than $100.The protection for the buyer and seller is much better than it was say 6 years ago.
fishingstar
I bought mine from vexilar I don't think they have any this late in the season and need a auction site.
Steve Foss
I've made purchases of up to $1,200 on the bay, and lots and lots of smaller and mid range purchases. Never a single problem. Buyer protections are much stouter than they were even a few years ago.
deerminator
I agree. It's all about WHO you buy it from, regardless of how you buy it. On a related note, I just picked up pair of Ambassadeur 5000 baitcasters (reconditioned by Abu Garcia) for $50 today at the local bait shop that is going out of business. Can't wait for May! BLACKJACK
I bought a reconditioned compressor one time from Northern Hydraulics, two months later the switch went out, no more reconditioned stuff for me. I'll pay the extra for new, with a warranty.
Farley
If it was reconditioned by Vexilar, that would make me feel better than if it were reconditioned by the seller (assuming it isnt Vexilar selling it).The vex I'm using was reconditioned last year by Vexilar. I got it for free since it didnt work, brought it to them and they did the service, I bought the tri beam transducer so I was out the door for well under the price of a new one. Works great. JordyED
I posted this for a friend. There was 20 minutes left in the auction so I posted quick to get the expert advice this site always provides. He ended up going for it. We will see how it all turns out. Thanks for all your help!! greatwhitehunter
I bought an LX-3 on ebaaay a few years back. Ended up not working right, I think it was probably the transducer, and tried contacting the seller. After numerous, I'd guess 5 emails, he never responded so I contacted ebaaaay buyer protection and they got my money back for me. Wasted a lot of time I could have been using the unit but ebaaaay made it right.
