Im not sure you will get anything close to 8 rods in that case unless your not gonna have reels on them.

You are probably right, 8 rods (no reels) but I dont think 8rod/reel combo's will work unless you offset them in the opposite direction.

I will let you know once I receive the product.

Thanks,

Still using a Stone Legacy bag. Very similar to the more contemporary Strike Ice bag.

Me too, must be at least 6-7 years old by now. But am looking for a different setup now since I picked up that clam portable organizer thing, I can keep all my tackle in that and just toss my tip up in the tub these days so no need for the extra compartments. Just need rod storage.

After looking at the price of some of the rod bags in the ice fishing section I wandered over to the gun section and picked up the Plano Pro-Max PillarLock Take-Down Gun Case. It easily fits 5 rods and appears to keep them very safe:

I'm really surprised to read about all the broken rods from soft cases. I've had all my walleye and panfish rods stuffed into the big Croxton bag for years and haven't broken one yet. Most of my fishing outings involve long drags to remote places too.

I'd still be a bigger fan of the Croxton bag had I not seen improved products like the Striker bag. If I had to say I had a dislike of the Croxton bag it would just be rod access and the velcro straps holding them in. Striker took care of that.

I don't plan on buying a new bag soon though since I mostly laker fish these days and my preferred laker rods are too long for typical rod bags and boxes. I think the boxes would be too cumbersome even if they were long enough. My laker rods are in their own individual ice rod cases with the tube for the rod and pouch for the reel that I bought at Thorne Bros several years ago.

It makes me wonder if the broken rod issues are from transferring to vehicles, storage at home, or whatever and things are getting stacked or dropped on the bags. 2c

Someone who has one of these Striker Ice bags should do a little review on one? Take some real pictures and post it up. Maybe someone at say Thorne Bros could do one, MATT J. are you listening...LOL I like my Stone Legacy bag but would like the extra pockets on the Stryker, instead of everything being jammed into the one big pocket. Oh what the heck maybe I'll just order one up.

If I get around to it tonight I will take a bunch of pics and post. Unlike many others who post "reviews" on stuff, I pay for everything I have.

Who is this Fisherman Andy you speak of? YES, I bothered to view your pics prior to me purchasing it in fact.

My review means more though. grin

Feel free to add your own reviews, so you at least looked at my earlier review before you made your purchase eh? grin

The only thing I dont like about the bag is leaving lures attached to the reel/rod in storage. The hooks can and will get stuck to the fabric in the bag. Also being that its a bag it has yet to be seen how well the stitching and fabric will hold up over time from wear & tear use.

yes, I did and thanks for those pics otherwise I wouldnt have even know it was out there. Kudos!

The fabric on the inside is the same struggle with any "bag" out there. I purchased a handful of these lure "cases" at scheels that are basically vinyl with velcro around the outside. Kinda like a lure wallet if you will.

That works fine, but yes, if you leave lures on any of these bags you will have issues at some point unless you do something like I did.

HT rod bag. I'm kidding, its garbage.

I love this bag and I can fit 9 combo's in it. Yes I know they are cheaply built and the zippers barely last but at that price and holding NINE combo's. I can deal with it. Not a hard case guy at all.... to each is own!

My deal is I don't want to break the reel handle down, I just want to be able to grab my rod out of the case or bag and FISH. And after Andy's great review I might pick up the striker or save up some more coin for the Ice Fishing Innovations hard case.

Some more pics of transporter.full-5994-28669-transportertopstorage.jp

The first pic shows the huge top storage. There is a zipper on either side and the one end has velcro to close it off. That plano tray in there is like 15 inches long.

The second pic shows the side storage. There are a total of 4 of these compartments with a zippered enclosure. Those are two typical sized plano boxes that fit easily into them.

The third pic is the bottom where the backpack straps come out. There are two zippers that you open and pull the straps form inside there. They are nice and tidy in storage when not needed.
