Josh_Flem
Just curious to see who has the app and what they think of the usability of it overall. I will mainly be downloading it for use on LOTW but will use it elswhere. Also was wondering what the contours are for LOTW as if they are 5 foot I probably won't get it but if they are 3 or better I will purchase. Any help greatly appreciated. fisherman-andy
There's alot of previous threads about this topic. If you do a search you'll find alot of reviews. But to answer your question for LOTW yes it does show 1ft contours currently. At least for sure the iPhone version.
ND4LIFE
For the price ($13 I think?) it's a pretty handy tool to have. I believe LOW is in 1 foot contours. I spoke with Strategic Fishing Systems/Lakemaster at the ice show and they are working on their version for iOS and Android. It sounded like you could download individual lakes for a set price each. If you had the Contour PC software then you could hook your phone up the computer and send maps to the phone for no cost (would be limited to what version of the PC software you had aka MN only MN lakes). They wanted to have it ready for the show but it needed a couple weeks yet. If you were looking for LOW then this might be worth taking a look at when it's released. Kyhl
Yep, LOW is 1 foot contours. My phone just updated to the latest version yesterday and I redownloaded maps of the areas I fish yesterday too. So LOW is 1 foot as of yesterday. govikes211
Its a very handy app. I like how you can turn off your mobile data and just use the gps on your phone. I have it on my droid razr m and it works flawlessly
bk_MN_iceman
I used this app all last season on my Droid X. The phone puttered out on me and have since upgraded. Looking forward to use the app again on a newer phone with bigger screen and better GPS.The depths were close. I could get back to spots that I had marked using the app. Some lakes with less definition though are some times hard to trust the contour lines. But like I said, they are mostly close. TruthWalleyes
I have the droid razr maxx, I cannot find a navionics app that says Lakes US NOrth?Options: Marine&Lakes:USAMarine:US&CANADA....etc..
fisherman-andy
I have the droid razr maxx, I cannot find a navionics app that says Lakes US NOrth?Options: Marine&Lakes:USAMarine:US&CANADA....etc.. Thats because the North App was the original one. Its has been discontinued and is no longer available or sold in the App Stores. The Marine & Lakes App is the current supported software on smartphone devices. There is two version, US and US & CAN. dan z
Have it on my DROID X works flawlessly. Like mentioned above there not perfect contours but there close enough to make drilling holes easier. Best $10 app I've ever purchased

govikes211
You can actually go to the Navionics HSOforum and browse through their map to see what lakes they have contours for.
AwesomZZ
Definitely worth it. Previously had it on LG G2x, but this year will be on my Nexus 4. I dont think I've come across a lake that it didn't have contours for.
BartmanMN
I was going to start a new post, but I guess I'll just comment in here instead. I'd have to say the the smart phone revolution with the Navionics app available at this price has been one of the largest advancements in ice fishing in the last couple of years. On the lakes that I fish it was easy to tell from the permanent shacks on the lake who had a hand held GPS since their houses would dot-to-dot the best structure points on the lake. Now when I do my Pre-fishing research on my iphone to pick what I think to be are good spots on the lake and head out, there will already be 5 portable shacks sitting on it. You can almost bet that they all have this app on their phone.Good times! Now lets get some stinking ice going.
fishersofmen
On the lakes that I fish it was easy to tell from the permanent shacks on the lake who had a hand held GPS since their houses would dot-to-dot the best structure points on the lake. When we were driving around on Mille Lacs last year we were laughing because of this. Even the smallest little hump or point on the map would be filled up with houses. govikes211
I 100% agree Bartman. For the fishing I do there is no point in buying an expensive gps system with a lakemaster chip. I think this forum is great by informing people about these options.

Freedom81
I purchased the Navionics app for $10 and was expecting a lot, as I don't even like paying $1 or $2 for apps... THIS APP ROCKS!!! I use it almost every time I go fishing. It shows 1 foot increments, direction of travel(a solid red line showing which way you are heading), and speed.Pick a spot that looks promising and walk right there! I have found the depths to be fairly accurate. Some lakes I want to fish say, 20 feet, and it's right on. Others, there is a little variance. Either way, it is a great tool to get you close to the depth you're looking for. Personally, I think whether the lake water level is high or low attributes to the inaccuracy. My example is a small lake I was on last year looking for the 16 foot hole and all I could find was 14 FOW... I figured the water level was down a couple feet. On Lake of the Woods last year, It showed we were about 150 yards from the Canadian Border... Good thing to know! All in all, I am very happy with the app. I use it almost every time I go out. I've recommended this app to a lot of people who are very happy with it as well. Just this summer, a friend asked me what I use, as he wanted something for his trip up to Leech. I talked to him a week later and he was raving about how it put him right on the drop-offs he wanted to be on!
FisH_SLaYer24
I haven't got the app out on the water yet, but from what I've seen (from playing with it on my iPhone) I really like it. I didn't realize how well the contours are laid out. I was expecting to see something like 3-5 foot contours, but on all of the lakes I have checked, I have seen 1 ft contours which only helps in eliminating "dead water." I have a Lowrance Handheld with a Lakemaster HD Chip in it, but I bought this just in case the batteries die in that unit. I have a feeling I will be splitting the time equally between both my handheld and my Navionics iPhone app this hard water season

Wish-I-Were-Fishn
Where do you purchase this for the smartphones? Google play store for android phones, iTunes app store for iPhones.
