DTro
Well, I thought long and hard about this (ok maybe not) and I think I came up with something that is going to work really well and it was easy to do!I shot a short demonstration video and just waiting for it upload. I can't wait to try it out! I will share the video as soon as its done.In the meantime, how is everyone else lighting their popup house? DTro
If the fish aren't biting, I can get a suntan. Now, this is a bit overkill, and a guy could easily get by with one strip around the edge. I happened to have a couple other strips and decided to roll with it. aanderud
Sure, you could maybe get by with 1...but I don't know why anyone would want to try anything LESS than 288 LEDs.
wishing for walleyes
Simple and sweet.Good Job.
muc33
If I call you some night when it's foggy on the lake, will you stand on shore by my truck and wait for me to get to you? I'll give you a high five and thanks! Great invention! Nice Video, the dog wants to know why you're throwing things?!
Islandlaker
That is cool, where do you get those LED strips and how much do they run?
muc33
Click on LED and buy away!
PRO-V
I use a clear lens camper light that I mounted a velcro wrap to for fastening to poles. Run it off a Vex battery. Made a power center out of a plastic ammo box to run it. Light stores inside it. Also made a computer fan hookup to run off it and a 12 volt plug-in to run your cell phone or GPS. fishwater
Cool idea. Couple suggestions - a white lid will utilize the light more effectively, and it'd be sweet if you could still use the lid during transport.
simple1
DTRO, Thanks for sharing and Fishwater, nice idea for the white bucket lid that can be used during transport.
aanderud
Here's another idea -- I like to use a computer fan to help spread out the light. But don't get just any old fan -- I like to go to check the loudness ratings, air CFM that they push, and RPM specs out before I order. Here's one that's 120 mm, pushes up to 70.5 CFM, with variable RPM from 500 to 1500 with loudness ratings of 17 to 28 dBA. And it's blue and white -- so it'll match your house. And I agree with the other poster about the white lid -- black absorbs light, white reflects it. Get a white lid and you just might need sunblock. Especially with this fan pushing the light around so much.
VMS
Hi Everyone,I happen to have a fishtrap Yukon and would like to get some of this lighting up and running in that. Would one strip of 48" be enough or would two do better? My plan would be to leave the lights in there, so would they be safe to join the wires together from each strip and run one dedicated wire set to a 12 volt battery or would I need to run the wiring separately for each strip to the battery?Currently have a couple of the otter lodge lights (small ones) and they are not very good, plus they don't adjust to different positions...Thanks in advance!!Steve
DTro
One will be sufficient, but I really liked having two in a larger 2 person house. One on the pole directly above and one on the pole above the door. Some people like it a bit dimmer, but how I fish, I like it nice and bright. What you can do with 2 sets is have connectors on each strip and have a dual spade for the battery. The options are endless with the connections and switches. masoct3
DTro, that's pretty cool. I might try that on a smaller size though
crappie55409
hey VMS i have a clam two person flip over and i run a 48" LED strip in that at night and its plenty of light. It is a little dark in the corners but the only thing stored there is beer :-) The yukon may be a bit bigger im not sure but 1 should do you fine. OnAFly
I'll be testing out the lantern tonight probably. We'll see how well it lights up everything. I like the fact that it gives off a little heat too
JordyED
Nice work! Great idea.Love the Beagle in the background, I have one myself. Best fishing partner there is, he even growls at the bobbers when they start to move!
DTro
This thing worked great in the Clam last night!
DTro
Here's a short clip from tonight of the light in action. I've found that instead of hanging it, I just slip it between the top pole and the canvas.
