DH Custom Ice Rods

Does anyone know if the DH Custom Rod guys will be at the St. Paul Ice Show this year? I would really like to compare Thorne's rods and the DH Custom's in person before I look at purchasing a new Perch rod..

If they will be there, are they going to have Ice Rods to purchase?

According to the shows HSOforum DH will be there. I would only assume he would be bringing a stock of rods to sell.

I know there was a post from Northland regarding the DH ice camo rod and it matching the Otter canvas. I thought I'd post some pictures of that rod and some of the others I picked up this past weekend.

Imma have to disagree with that. I own several DH custom rods, TB rods, & now TUC also.

The DH rod are very high quality and well made. I own 3 DH noodles, two on recoils. And their Perch Pounder on recoils with the carbon fiber handle.

I have chosen now to have all my solid carbon graphite rods be made with the carbon fiber handles instead of cork as I feel they do a better job of transferring sensitivity to your hands and fingers.

Anywhere local in the north metro to go look at these rods? I'm looking to maybe add a couple of medium light action rods to my stable. May give DH a shake.

Thorne Bros! thats where i bought my Al Dente noodle rod last winter. They wont have all the models but you can still check them out.

I was up at the ice fishing show. Saw those dh rods. Boy, those noodle rods are impressive, but I don't do much pan fishin through the ice. Got home and ordered a perch pounder for those pool 3 walleyes. Had them put the carbon handle on. Talked to Chris and he said it was well worth it

The noodle rods work great as a deadstick walleye rod. The tip loads into an extremely stiff backbone. Even though the tip is whispy they can handle big fish.

+1 on the stiff backbone, i would feel confident hitting a walleye with it. Even more so now as i was loading up to head to Cass lake yesterdayand tied a tiny tungssten jig to it and the tip bent as i was hooking it to the hook keeper and the tip snapped. :-( not a happy camper and i didnt even bend it that far, it loaded up more with a fish on. Disapointed isnt the word for it. Needless to say my alDente has a stiffer action to it now.

My Thorne bros noodle rod got jumped on by my son before it ever saw action. I lost about 2 inches and can't tell the difference between it and my second one. Just had them clean the break up and tie on a new tip.

Mine broke about 2" off the end as well. First rod I've broke in over 10 years and I don't have a clue how it broke because it was in a good case. One piece when I put it in and two pieces when I opened it back up. I was extremely careful with that thing, too.

Anyways, I called Dusty, sent it back to him, and a new one showed up in the mail. I emailed him to see what I owed him for shipping and any other costs and he just replied with "Don't worry about it, just enjoy and Happy Holidays!" I will be ordering more rods from him in the future.....
