Abigale's First Deer

After passing on mature does for two years of youth seasons my youngest daughter, Abbey, finally got her wish to fill her first deer tag with a buck. I still think this was entirely designed to outdo her older brother, who has yet to score on his first buck!

She made a perfect heart shot with her single shot .243 at around 65-70 yards, and the animal was cleanly and humanely dispatched within a few yards of the shot.

I couldn't be more proud of her for showing patience and waiting to fulfill her dream. Hope the image works out okay...shot with my smart phone.

I'm glad she is a hunter and not a shooter ! As low as the deer pop. is in my area we need more like her around, there isn't this endless supply of anterless deer like so many think, she did great !

When I first took my son archery hunting years ago, I was never so proud of his first bow kill, it was better than any deer I had ever shot.

Next year my granddaughter will more than likely start her first hunt. Kind of like a full circle the day she harvests her first deer. It cannot get here soon enough for me.
