Trail camera problem Moultrie brand

Recommended Posts

I was up at my hunting land the weekend prior of rifle opener to take down my trail camera. I brought my laptop in with me to check right away but there no pictures on it for a weeks worth of time. The battery life was around 55%. I was using the same batteries as last year they were around 75% when I put it up a month prior and assumed I still had plenty of juice left. Has anyone had a similar issue with their Moultrie or other brand? I know I should have put new batteries in that is my own fault. Do any of you leave theirs up during hunting season?

I have a moultrie brand as well, just bought it and had it out for a week and now nothing on it battery life says 57%. But it also says card lock. tried different card same thing. Called Moultrie and said to do a hard reset, take out card and batteries and turn on, leave set for ten minutes and should be reset. It didnt work so I dont know what to do.

Is the slider on your sd card set to the lock position? That will prevent the camera from writing images to the card.

Thanks the card is not locked that was the first thing I checked. I will try new batteries and the reset to see if that fixes it. Do any of you guys leave your camera's up during hunting season? I am afraid it may spook them but I am also curious of activity near my stand in between weekends.

Which Moultrie? The first run of M80s have a well known issue with being picky about large and new cards. There is an firmware update that you can download and install from Moultrie. Get it, put the main.elf file on a freshly formatted and empty SD card, and insert the card. Turn the camera to AIM, enter YES to the update, and let it sit for a few minutes. Pretty simple, but if you purchased it new in the last couple of months it shouldn't need it. I will say the Moultri movement/heat sensitivity leave a bit to be desired.

hey berditsmen, I always after I set it do a drive by on it to see if it took Picture #1 then I feel it will function like it should and did you delete all previous images I'd assume ? Hmmmm I have 2 and have never had much of an issue yet, who knows. My 1st thought was the card was locked

Did you start with a "clean" card with no other pic's on it? That happened to me. I thought that I had deleted all the test pictures I did at home before setting it up and when I checked it two weeks later no pictures, but two old test pictures I forgot to delete! cry I deleted them in my picture camera in the truck and put it back up and then it worked. wink

I have a M-80 which i got last black friday i think.

Anyway

It worked great still does....up until last month. I took the SD card out and nothing. It says something invalid Card. I can't even see the pic on my camera. Then i can see the pic then not. I DONt think switching the card even helped.....i will try tomorrow night.

The "Invalid card" problem was common with the initial run of M80s (including Black Flash, XT, etc...) that was limiting you to using 4GB cards and slower ones (Class 2 or 4) at that. They recommended a slower, smaller, older clean and empty card to get the update to the firmware, and I recommend that you try it. Google "Moultrie M80 Software update" and it will be one of the first links, with instuctions. This is the case on all models up to about 6 months ago as far as I can tell. There is a lot of discussion on this in a trail camera comparison HSOforum that you can probably find, too.
