Pretty sure there will be.

There is ice just a little bit further north where they are already ice fishing:

Earlyice1-2.jpgYep that pic was taken yesterday I believe.

Check the forums and see the discussion.

Who would like to make it up the this event to be at "First Ice On the Spot"?

at the rate this weather is going are we even going to have ice by then eek

Obviously it is the weather and can make no guarantees, but have lived and fished this area for many years and by that time there is nearly always safe walkable ice in close proximity. Looks like a great line up of speakers along with a incredibly fun, knowledgeable, and most importantly, an approachable group of HSO staff that are going to be there and willing to share what they know. I have learned a ton from them over the years and this would a great opportunity for someone new to the ice as well as some of you seasoned vets to get together, learn a little more, and also help others.

It's been much colder in Northern MN than the Metro area. All it will take is a few days of below 32 degree weather to have fishable ice.

Wilcraft motorized and floatbale fish house on ice will be there as will Striker Brand Floatable Ice Suits.

Why cut your season short. I had my best Ice Fishing season ever last year. The season was shorter for drive-able ice.

According to Chad P, the organizer of this event there is:

up to 4.5" of Ice as of yesterday and making ice. The big crappies and gills are VERY HUNGRY...

Just waiting for you to show up and catch them smile

Bring the kids and beginners are welcome - if you are a beginner or with kids we will identify and do require that you stay with local experts on ice fishing....We will have folks there to help you.

Who's going and who's a wannabee? laugh

Please note: Not all areas or lakes are that thick. Some lakes still have open water. So please be cautious. Enter at your own risk.
