I've got buck fever too.. Worst part is I have three exams, a few projects due this week, AND work. And here I am reading hunting message boards and digging through my closet to make sure I'm not forgetting anything....

traffic will also be moving slowly,

so please plan ahead and make it a safe trip.

Expect road work between Pine City and Duluth on I-35 and MN 23

I'm taking off for a 5 day hiatus this Wednesday.

Coming from TX. I ain't seen such a pumkin parade as y'all do it.

4 Days???? Try 34 for me........ I am heading up to Wolf Ridge ELC with my son and 100 other fifth graders for the week, tomorrow morning at 6 AM. They are all my students ( I teach PE) and I can't wait.

I hope everyone here has a great deer opener next weekend, be safe, shoot straight and lets see some great pic's. remember forum rules though: no excessive blood, no smokes or beers, no tailgate shots either.

P.S. that road construction on 35 is not gonna be fun

if you're going NORTH of duluth, exit 35 and take 23 North at Askov! if you're lucky, you can cruise on thru. plus there is plenty of opportunity to pass if need be.

I use to get all wound up for the opener, time could not move fast enough.

After approx 43 openers, I fo when it is time for archery, gun and Ml.

Good luck to all, be safe and wear your safety harness. Leave the booze at the deer camp and not the hip pocket.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. It was another great night to be in the tree tonight.

bwahahahahahaha I'm at our land right now, about to walk out into the woods in about 15 minutes laugh

I've enjoyed archery season so far, but this week is particularly what I've been dreaming about.. a little bit of cold and late Oct rut activity gives me confidence, and I think confidence helps me sit a little bit more still and be a little bit more aware.

That said, I put a few rounds through my rifle on the last day I could have it out before firearms opener, just in case I need to up the firepower later in the week to guarantee a deer for some meat.

If only we had two inches of freshly fallen powder..

I live just north of Cloquet, but haven't been south (West) of town in about 2 weeks. I thought I had heard the worst of it is between Midway Rd. and 33, does it now extend South of 33 in Cloquet now? We've got a bunch of guys heading up from the TC and it would be nice if I could give them a heads up on the 23 idea or maybe some other alternatives.

I'm already packed for the opener! I couldn't wait anymore this weekend! So my outer layers are bagged up with leaves from the yard. My pack is all filled with the essentials. And my 3-year old boy warmed up the buck grunt call, so I know that works (a little too well)!

Be safe out there!
