What net do you use?

I don't know. Mine flew out of my boat on the way to the Mississippi river. So I picked up what they had at a bait shop in Redwing. That was 10 year ago. The handle extends to 8 feet or so and is unnecessary. UV rays have done there job on the net but it has a few more year in it.

I have 2 Frabrill nets. A large one that I use for sturgeon and a mid size net that usually hangs on the wall. I also have a small 15 inch $10 net I bought several years ago at the Northwest Sport Show that I keep in the boat. I rarely net a fish, but I've had 28 inch walleyes and some big pike in this net. I like it because of its size and I store it flat against the side of the boat. I use a couple broom clips to hold it in place.

I use the Frabill Conservation nets for normal fishing, and I throw in a Beckman when trolling for big fish. The big hoop and long handle of the Beckman are real handy when you can troll multiple rods like Green Bay or Oahe. I prefer the Frabill Concervation nets here in Minnesota where I release almost all of my fish. For what it's worth, I always have two nets in the boat.

I have used quite afew and have settled on the Beckman. The one I have does not have the huge hoop but is more medium sized and the basket has a somewhat shallow design. It extends out to 8 feet for trolling. What is nice about it is it stilll somewhat light weight for general use but it plenty tough when extended to scoop up walleyes when trolling. THe basket also does not hang foat back and get tangled in the hooks of the bait before y0u can scoop the fish.

My basket has lost most of it's hook free properties (after about 4 years) and will be replaced this winter with the same one.
