BoxMN
Bro came back last week from Fargo and said birds on about every piece of water from Fergus to St. Cloud. Many are prolly teal and will likely scout, but at least it is promising to see birds on MN water in good numbers. We are likely skipping opener, or just doing a minor outing in favor of fishing, as we consider the next weekend the "normal opener", and will go to our normal spot as we have for over 30 years. Sometimes great, sometimes merely okay, but never horrible... how can it be when in the duck blind... okay, after looking at plenty of empty skies, it CAN be! haha! Gordie
A buddy of mine that lives in Devils Lake said that He has noticed in the last week or so a big push of teal in his area. Must be the start of the teal migration going on.It should be a great opener this year the duck numbers are high and I have been noticing a lot of birds in my travels. Gissert
We went from a fair number of birds on Monday, to load and load of them today. My wife said there were lots of teal staging that were not around a couple days ago. Woody numbers look good too.
Finlander
What are the water conditions you've observed?
hockeybc69
I would guess part of the reason of seeing more ducks in areas is because small sloughs are all but gone, concentrating the birds on the remaining water. On our place, every small pothole we have is dry as a bone. Only one slough with water in it at this point. 7 potholes without a drop of water in them. Gissert
Yup. lots of dry holes, and holes with big mud flats ringing the water. It has concentrated the birds, but the teal numbers have really jumped the last few days.
