365 day trail camera?

I have seen more and more ads for trail cameras that are supposed to go all year on a set of batteries. They look like they take about 8 AA batteries. Does anyone have a camera that can do this? I really doubt there is a camera that can go all year when that year includes a MN winter. I know there are solar adapters, but I don't want to have that much money in a camera that could be stolen. I would like to get a camera that could go out in June/July and last through November.

my bushnell lasted from June 11 to Mar 12 on 8 AAs and took a couple 1000 pictures.

Yep. My bushnell trophy cams took a couple thousand pics over nearly a year on the inaugural Rayovac batteries.

Easy for them to say a year of battery life. All depends on the number of pics, how many night pics, is it on video mode.... etc...

But its very impressive on some cams nowdays....

My cuddeback attack goes out in june and comes in right before rifle season on the same 4 d batterys, Been out for couple months already and still 80% battery and those were from last year

My Moultrie M-80 went out last May and came in the 2nd weekend of gun season. Took about 3500-4000 pictures and had 30% battery life yet. I used the Rayovacs also.

I think many of todays cameras are capable of lasting that long. Cam settings and outside temps and # of pictures obviously are the main factors.

I dont care what camera you buy... in my opinion, if you put a camera out with the intent of not checking on it for several months, eventually your going to be very disappointed! Theres always some little things that can go wrong and prevent your camera from taking any pictures.

I know many people dont have the luzury of being close to the spots they want to watch, but make sure your conservative with your settings on your camera if your going to expect it to last. Ex. no videos, no burst mosts, infrared flash only, use a longer delay, etc.

I like to leave my longer for the basic fact that deer know when you are going in and out even if its a week between. The longer between checks the better, unless its getting to rifle season and even then i check to and from hunting and try not to make special trips just for the camera, why risk messing up the area.

My first check of the year i waited a little less than a month, the bigger bucks seemed to be just getting coming to my salt licks and food plot after i mowed it about two weeks after both camera's were set up. So by going in once a week or so I feel it hurts more than helps early in the year.

Rubs, scrapes, and a fresh cut field are a little different as you want to get in and know whats going on within days, and I usually hunt the spot and hang the camera after to check next time I hunt. So i know if I need to adjust or if its even worth hunting again.

I keep checking every once awhile to keep track and don't have to go through a ton of pics of does I don't want to see. Sure there are some neat pictures. We are using m80s this year and they operate on 4 or 8 aa batteries. So far, so good.

Leech, I use 4gig chips and I don't set to the highest resolution either. I will check the cams about 1 to 1-1/2 months and swap the cards out. Due to go check them again. That many pics also icncluded bear hunting last fall and there would be anywhere from 80-100 pics a day. It sure is nice only having to buy 8 little AA's once a year though.

Sounds good. I may have to look into an M80 as both my other cams only last a few weeks and are 4 C size batteries.

Try and find the M-80, M-80X or the M-100. The newer models like the M-80XT, M-80XD or the M-80BLX the trigger speeds have slowed down according to the reviews. I have the M-80 and the wife got me a M-100 for x-mas and I have been really happy with the trigger speeds on my cams. The reviews for the M-80 and M-100 also had good reviews. I do see that wally world sells the M-80 for $127 online. Check out the great e auction also. I also really like how bright the night pictures are. Good luck.

My M80 has been in the woods since may and taken about 1000 pics and battery life is still 90%... Ive read a lot of reviews knocking moultrie cameras and there battery life but thats all we use... I can get at least a year and at least 5k pictures from my cameras
