call your CO...but if you have a deer standing in your yard acting strange right now...it probably has a baby in the weeds. I came home today finding a doe chasing my springer spaniel around the front yard, then chased it into the garage..pretty exciting for my 9 yr old. she had 2 brand news fawns in our field.

From the MN DNR's CWD page: Contact your local DNR office or the general DNR information line at 1-888-646-6367 if the animal appears sick.

What do you guys think? I was mowing around some trees today until I noticed a fawn that was bedded right under a white pine. It was facing away from me so I never really got a good head on look but its ears were drooping and it definitely looked like it wasn't going to live much longer. So I got up and left for about an hour thinking that the doe would come back. Went back to finish mowing to find that it was turned 180 degrees and dead where I had found it. It was somewhere between the size of a large cat and a small dog. There wasn't any blood at all and since couldn't have been very old at all it was very emaciated. Maybe it just was some other unknown cause.

Thanks

i would doubt it had CWD> most likely mom died or somehow lost it. It couldn't be more then a week or 2 old at the most...the ones by my house i saw today were probably born last night. i wouldn't worry about it.

I think I would agree on the something happened to the mother theory. If you look at the CWD testing that they do in the state, if an animal on one of these game farms dies and is under 16 months old, they don't even have to test it.
