I had to pull back the zoom on the last couple shots. I had my ghillie suit on and the fox came within 20 feet of me. It was cool to have it that close and unaware. Other than the head shots, only one other of these was cropped at all. There should have been 5 kits but I'm thinking the others had already left, especially considering the size of this one. It was especially nice that I only had to drive 18 miles to get to this spot. A return trip yielded nothing and the land owner saw just one the next day.

What do kits eat?

After one month, the kits feed on regurgitated food that their mothers or other females bring back for them. They also start coming up out of the den to play after about one month. The mother starts bringing live prey for the young foxes to enjoy when they begin to grow up. Eventually the kits learn how to hunt by watching their parents.
