LwnmwnMan2
I was thinking more about this today.I don't think Verizon's plan is to get people off of unlimited data, as much as get more people on a limited data plan that aren't already using data.I've been told that as long as I don't upgrade through a Verizon store (buy a new phone on C's list or the Bay) I can keep my unlimited data. This is counterproductive to me. I have 5 phones on our account which would allow me to get a new phone about every 4-5 months, as I could just use any of the upgrades. Now they won't be getting the $200-300 every 4-5 months from me, as I will go to the secondary market. However, the 3 non-smart phones that we have on the account, are running us at $10 / month each to just use as phones. If I go to the new plan, these phones go to $30 per month each, just to use as phones, but I can add a smart phone for $40 per month, each. My parents and mother in law do not want those, the basic phone is fine for them.I see it as people thinking "hey, it's just $10 / month more now to add a smart phone, so let's do that for the kids" and thinking they will stick to using wi-fi, which probably works for more people. However, they will sell larger data packs to these people as well, so in a sense, I see it as a way to get MORE people on data, rather than get people off of data.As I stated earlier, I use 7-9 gb per data per month between my wife's X2 and my Maxx. Our bill would go UP $60 / month to switch to the new share everything plan, but that $60 is exactly what the non-smart phones will increase to under the new plan.In my view, Verizon is missing out on $600 / month from me, plus all the others that will upgrade 2 times / year to keep new phones around. delcecchi
You pay 200 for the phone but Verizon pays apple or Samsung like 500 for that phone. So you not upgrading isn't exactly ripping their guts out.
PierBridge
Also LwnMMan couldn't you possibly lower your 9 gigs a month usage by not having to stream your music all day everyday? How about making some play lists for your music? 9 gigs a month sounds insane to me based on my limited knowledge of the data world.

I know that's overkill, but I keep and earn alot of business by having immediate response for property managers.I listen to alot of radio. Mostly 1500 ESPN off of MediaU, but Pandora, iheartradio and a couple of other programs to stream radio / music.I have a decent playlist, but working outside 60-80 hours per week, you can only have so much downloaded musoc and not get tired of it.
