tacklejunkie
I have quite a few cans of old paint that I don't use anymore. What is the environmentally correct way of disposal?I heard there is a place in Duluth that will take them but don't remember the name
Eric Wettschreck
The company that collects our garbage told us if you take the lids off and let everything get completely hard and dry, they'll take the cans and lids in the regular trash pick-up. Even if they're still half full, as long as it's all dry.
amateurfishing
technically thats illegal ( i think).....to do it properly (legally) they should be taken to a hazardous waste facility. depending on where u r located, most cities/counties have free drop off collections once or twice a year for hazardous waste disposal (gas, paint, batteries, oil, etc), check with your local city or co. office. usually advertised in local city/county paper or newsletter sometime, ours is usually for spring/fall cleanup in may/oct

shamrock7
St Louis County Solid Waste has Hazardous Waste collections randomly though out the year. They will take the stuff at no charge for household users. Stuff like fluorescent tubes, antifreeze, paints and stains. Just watch their HSOforum or your local paper or give them a call. Or you can do as stated above.
upnorth
I know the land fill just west of Hibbing has a drop off spot. Be aware if you bring in paint in unlabeled cans you will get a lecture.
