I found a doz on the weekend but only 4 very small ones Tue. This cold weather is really slowing them down!

Found a dozen on Monday very small. My buddy got almost 80 the other day with some size.

So I've been looking for morels for the first time this spring and striking out. What should I be looking for? I have hardwoods out back, lots of old and dead trees. No morels. Yet.

you should be looking for someone in the area who has been doing it for years....haha jk. it's hard to tell where they are going to be. When i lived in north central mn, I thought I was the morel king because I seemed to find them everywhere. Now I am in my 2nd morel season in Wisconsin, I hunt the same kinds of woods and can't seem to shake one up. Keep lookin, you run into them eventually if the ticks don't get to you first. good luck.

Found my first couple of the season today. Only about 2 inches or do in a spot that gets lots of sun. Decided to quit trampling the area. Anyone know how fast the grow?

Theres a couple of time lapse videos on the tube...I think its like 10 days or so.

I tried looking in a favorite spot this afternoon and nothing yet. Right now, I think its a matter of angle and sunlight. So far, I haven't even picked any. The stumps in the photo above are from someone else...and they missed two of them

I ran over 4 big yellows that were hidden in the tall grass when i mowed last night. dang it. Wandered down into the woods after mowing and found a handful of smaller greys with a bunch more little guys just starting to pop up.

Oh No. Dtro said on another post a while back that Morels Do not grow in the mn river valley!

Got into a few today. If you find one, make sure you clear the leaves in the adjacent areas, we found a bunch of shy ones by doing a little leaf sweeping.
