I actually got selected for A, but won't be able to hunt it. Work scheduled me for training and I will be out of town....was really not happy with em!!! After completing the 7 steps to recovery I'm doing better now. grin

I contacted the DNR and they told me I can still buy an over the counter license for a later season and retain my preference for next year. Once you actually buy your lottery tag is when your preference goes back to 0.

So I will be getting an over the counter tag for a season that is work schedule friendly. I don't work normal hours so if I play it right I can get an entire season off.

I will be hunting near Lake City, and hoping to bag one of those Mississippi mud long beards!!!

Good luck everyone!!!

Wouldn't this allow treehuggers to apply in the lottery every year and draw a tag away from actual hunters without having to purchase a license? Seems flawed if it is.

That's what I was thinking - doesn't make sense to correct the bear lottery (except last year's hiatus) and leave the turkey system flawed.

Anyways, sorry to hijack your team post - carry-on with the turkey talk!

BTW - you stand no chance vs. Team 7! smile

Good point...maybe the $3 is too much for the huggers to spend :-)

Here is what the DNR Kevin email'd me

As long as you have not purchased your license, you can purchase one of the E-H licenses later this spring. No deadline to purchase one of those, and no hurry either. They will not run out of them. You can wait until May to purchase them. As long as you do not purchase the license, you will not lose your preference level, you will remain where your were before applying. You gain a point when you are not selected, you start over once you’ve purchased your winning license, remain at the level you were if you do not purchase the license.

The purchase of one of the E-H licenses will not affect your preference level. Just as a suggestion, wait until right before you want to hunt before purchasing your license. If you wanted to hunt the E season and on the 6th or 7th of May find out the weather is going to be lousy, you can wait and purchase the F or later season. If you purchase one next week, you’re stuck with it. Just a suggestion. Kevin

Actually I got the idea from Sorgy. Thanks, it came to me when you posted your idea's. I think you said Spurs on the ground for a name. I thought that the name busting spur's and then NAW, Spur Buster's sounded a whole lot better!! Thanks again Sorgy. Let's put some black on the ground guy's!!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
