Sometimes you get lucky and the hens will yelp or cut loudly even if the tom is quiet. Took several little cat naps in the blind this spring only to be woke up by a rude hen. wink

The night before my last morning I was out scouting and saw two nice toms heading to roost,so I thought I would try em in the morning. My buddy and I set up on the field edge.As it started to get light out we heard our first gobbles bout 300 yards away.It starts to get lighter out and man were they gobbling. Two silent jakes pitch out into the field from about 100 yards away and they come a running to the dekes and then a third. These three jakes stay in the dekes for about forty minutes. One was on top of my decoy for about five min. Then a hen comes in and starts to peck the decoy. We can still hear the toms gobbling and it sounds like their getting closer. Then we see one on top of the hill and he waits for the other one for about ten min. When the second one arrives they start to close the 200 yard gap in a hurry. The jakes strut up and kinda of form a triangle around the hen decoy. The toms could care less as they come in charging. All the turkeys are now 20 yards away as I try and pick out a tom and wait for a clear shot that took awhile and when I shot my tom fell on my last morning of E season.I started out with my bow and switched to my gun on the 4th and 5th mornings.I came close with the bow on my 2nd morning,so I'm looking forward to next year. There were also two deer about 100 yards away feeding in the field when I shot the tom.Lots of action for sure,A good friend came along, he had an archery tag but decided to leave his bow in the truck and try a capture my hunt on film. After my shot the other tom and jakes jump on my bird and we just looked at each other like should've brought the bow.The tom weighed 18.10, 11.50"beard, 1 1/4 and 1" spurs.DSCF2338.jpg
