Florida Birds

A few from my past week in Florida. Record high temps were set 3 of the days I was there, in the Low 90's smile Here is a VERY small sampling of shots.

Great series DBL. Makes me want to get in my vehicle and head south for a week smile

Would love to see a Anhinga in breeding plumage like that....gorgeous.

Love the oystercatcher too...such a great shorebird in terms of physical features.

Just to be a geek....The first image is a snowy egret, and the third to

last is a black crowned night heron smile

Thanks ShawnZ, we had the debate back and fourth on the night heron but you are correct. We saw so many varieties of birds I was trying to keep track of all of them. I have corrected my post. smile

What is an Anahinga? Is it a type of heron? Very nice photos!

The anhinga is very similar to the cormorant, in fact they are seen side by side in Florida. The quickest way for me to tell the difference is the Anhinga has a skinny neck. Anhinga's are in tropical and subtropical climates only.
