zepman
YIGGIN---I don't hold Spielman accountable for the position this team is in right now. I've said all along that Childress is the reason we're rebuilding right now...he was the one calling ALL the shots while he was here.Spielman has to earn everything going forward. I thought he did a good job in FA by not overspending on average talent and I thought he had a very good day yesterday.
Musky Buck
I never quite figured out how we like these old pro-bowl caliber QB's Favre,Cunningham,Jeff George types but when Drew Brees was available we showed 0 interest. I think not fighting 110% for that guy plugging him into our dome, then we draft the Tavaras Jackson's, Ponder's, steal away from Houston Sage Rosenfels, D. McNabb, etc. We knew Brees well from Purdue etc. 0 issues kind of guy. I think that swing and a miss really could've kept us current and winning as he did for San Diego, Tomlinson got the glory, but who got the ball down to the goal line for him not that LT wasn't a stud then. Anyway, I just hope our season is still interesting come Thanksgiving this year.
amateurfishing
i totally agree with them packaging some of those later round picks for a slot or 2 tonite, our has so many weak holes any 2nd or 3rd rounder should be able to make an impact (at least competing for a spot) immediately. i would personally try to use up all 5,6, & 7th round spots to move up anywhere b4 the 5th round. there are enuff average/below average players on the current rosters, we need players that will immediately challenge any seconday, wr, lb, & deepen o & d-lines
amateurfishing
Building my fantasy team..... I always love that one!!! James- Zep- Has Spielman ever made a bad move? My god, you seemingly agree with everything he ever does! Sorry Im a bit skeptical based on his track record.I already said getting those 3 extra picks and getting Kalil was a great move there Zep, and yes, I could see that one coming. But I dont think Harrison Smith is gonna be that good in the NFL, sorry... That Notre Dame D he came from was pretty weak and he just happened to be one of the better players on it, so he stood out. That Pats could have taken him if they really wanted him and didnt. I dont really care if the draft nazis say its a 2 saftey draft. Yeah, hes a safety and im very aware we needed one. Doesnt mean i like the pick. Just watch tonight- Theres gonna be ALOT of good players that fly off the board BEFORE we pick, so good luck finding that needle in the haystack Ricky one of the better players on a pretty weak defense? you mean like Ponder one of the best players on an offense that never had a single person around him drafted in 4 years? he's turned out pretty good so far....give em a chance to learn & growwhy is everyone h*llbent on picking a WR so high, if they're a dud, everyone complains bout not picken the safety, this is a plenty deep wr draft class, kick returners & recievers are loaded and no need to b reaching or overpaying for average talent during rebuilding time
thatoneguy
I never quite figured out how we like these old pro-bowl caliber QB's Favre,Cunningham,Jeff George types but when Drew Brees was available we showed 0 interest. When Drew Brees was available he was coming off a major shoulder injury that some thought would be career threatening, or at least career-altering. Turns out they were wrong - obviously - but it was at least reasonable to stay away at that point.
FISHINGURU
I'd still like for us to try and get a guard that can fight for the starting spot. It sounds kind of strange because of all our needs but I wouldn't of minded us trading up to take DeCastro, we could of changed our stank o-line into something very good in 1 round. He was a steal where Pitts got him IMO.
collegepaul
So far I like what the Vikes have done. I really hope Harrison Smith turns out to be better than Tyrell Johnson! It can't be that hard...right?If the Vikes are trying to trade up into the 2nd round, I'd like to see them draft someone like Trumaine Johnson to replace Cedric Griffen. I think that'd be another really good move to fix the secondary. Then I'd like to see a later pick on a WR like Brian Quick or Tommy Streeter. IMO, either one of those two could fill the void left by Sidney Rice very well.
james_walleye
Lets see if anyone can guess the vikings next pick, whether they stay put in the third or move back into the second.I'll go Brian Quick WR Appalachian St.
james_walleye
Wow I guess not
Scott K
I think they go LB, and if Lavonte Davis is still on the board, which I doubt he will be, I would like to see them pick him, or if Rueben Randle if he is on the board. Although, I wouldnt doubt they move up and try to get Randle, if he is still there towards the end of the 2nd.
Scott K
I was kinda dissapointed there. There was some good players still on the board that if we traded up 5 spots, we would have had an impact player, but I think they layed an egg there. james_walleye
Well I was hoping for Randel as well, but truth be told I read in a few places today the vikings would be wise to trade up into the middle of the second to get Robinson. So the fact that he fell in their lap in the third isn't half bad.

james_walleye
Oh who could have guessed, it's captain hindsight..... http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/115...in-day-2/page/
Scott K
I dont mind they drafted Robinson, but he is pretty undersized for a CB. I guess I would have rather they got Randal and traded a couple later picks to get him. I think they could have gotten someone of Robinsons potential in the 4th or 5th round. But there isnt any WR that has Randals potential, or any where close to it. I think Randal could have went in the 1st
james_walleye
I agree about Randel. See above link. I read this in multiple places. I'm not going to pretend to know anything about Robinson. But coincidentally I read alot about him today and it was positive and I didn't read anything that thought he would be around in the third..... LMITOUT
I tuned into KFAN after the pick and thought I was listening to a funeral service. Step back from the ledge...
james_walleye
Just out of curiosity is there a single player available that you would have praised the vikings for taking there captain hindsight?
Scott K
Well as for our next pick, I have to say you go with BPA, and to me I see that as Zebrie Sanders, I think he could be a starting gaurd, or a back up RT. Or Juron Criner WR, then that I dont see any other players that excite me much.
zepman
Randle is a #3 receiver at best...we have plenty of them already.I'm hoping for a guy like Streeter (higher upside) and Rainey in the later rounds.Never heard of Robinson but I'm sure he'll add depth and push for a starting spot this Fall. Speed can hide all kinds of mistakes.
james_walleye
I would still like to see McNutt or Streeter....I hope your right zep, I hope we didn't miss out.....
archerystud
Robinson is taller than Winfield. I like the pick in the third round.
james_walleye
Fastest corner in the draft. Faster than Harvin. He also has return ability.
zepman
Look for them to take another safety in the 4th.
YiGGiN4SLoBS
I dont know boys, after Kalil it all went downhill for me. It was going so well with the 3 free picks we got from cleveland, we had all the ammo to trade up and get a playmaker and the two guys we got impress me none. Im not gonna pretend to know about Robinson either, but my guess is its gonna be a little tougher in the NFC north then at UCF.... good luck kid.I think we missed out on a lot of guys with a better chance to make an impact on this team.Well, anybody know whose projected for the top five in the 2013 draft?
