DTro
Nexus, Razr, or Rezound? Can't make up my mind
Lowblazah
Why not the Bionic?
Nick Kuhn
From a spec sheet it would be difficult to recommend anything other than the Nexus at this time. The Rezound is close but it's a bit bigger and bulkier and isn't running 4.0 quite yet.
DTro
I’ve read some not so great things about the LTE radio on the Nexus (poor connection and slower speeds compared to the other 2) . I’ve always been a fan of Moto and have had good luck with the radios in their phones. Never had an HTC before. The Bionic is old school already
CAMAN
If you want a locked down and bloated device go with anything other than the Nexus. If you want to be able to do anything you really want with your device go with the Nexus. So far I am loving my Nexus, yes it has a few quirks, like occasionally dropping LTE, but it is sounding like most things/everything should be fixed with a new OTA update in the next week or so. But the small quirks have hardly hampered what I can do with it.
CAMAN
Oh and from reports, those "slower connection speeds" people have reported are untrue. It is all going to depend on what tower you are connected to. Side by side they are all pretty much the same speed, the Nexus has been reported to be even slightly faster side by side.I have heard reports of people getting 60+ mbps download speeds on the Nexus. I personally have only been able to get up to 18 mbps download speeds, but that was on a 4G tower in a less populated area. My home tower I normally get about 8 mbps, at work I only get about 3-4 mbps.
Lowblazah
The Bionic is old school already Fair enough...I am still on a Droid X Dang contracts should be only one year! But I got to see my buddy pull 30mb down on his bionic the other day in Edina using the Speakeasy speedtest app. Ridiculous.
CAMAN
Here are a couple speed tests from Galaxy Nexus's, like I said it all depends on your cell tower. Kinda crazy how something so small can pull bigger numbers wirelessly than most wired systems.
CAMAN
Dang contracts should be only one year!I'm always getting early upgrade notices one year into my contract. And I have always taken them up on it. Never kept a phone for the length of the contract because I just get bored with them and I get jealous of people talking about there sweet new toys. The only extra charge is like a $25 processing fee. Might want to check it out if you are looking to upgrade.
DTro
Yep, that is where I'm at right now, only a year into it and I always upgrade whenever possible, however it was 199 for quite a while there and now all the new phones are 299. I stopped by Big Red today, and almost walked out with a White Razr, maybe I will tomorrow. Some will think the White Razr is gawd awful ugly, but I kind of dug it....in a Storm Trooper sort of way. CAMAN
It's a cool looking phone, but the thing I dislike about the Razr is the non-removable battery. I've never had a battery last an entire year and find a cheap $5-10 replacement on Amazon to last me until I am eligible for upgrade. I just don't like having batteries I can't replace. I just ordered a white Case-Mate Barely There case for my Nexus. Looks kinda similar!
LMITOUT
My dad picked up a RAZR a few weeks ago. Yes, my father has a better phone than I do and I don't know if I should be proud or embarrassed. Ha! I didn't mess with it too much but could tell it was faster than my EVO as far as user interaction and was very crisp to operate. Not a surprise. Where he lives they don't have 4G so didn't bother testing connection speeds. VERY light and obviously thin but somewhat awkward to hold. Didn't care for all the Verizon stuff on it and would probably clean up a lot of the clutter if it were mine. I didn't spend enough time with it to really form an opinion other than it's another Android brick-sized phone. The RAZR not having Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box isn't a big deal because it is coming soon. I'm still holding out for a new phone with a smaller screen. Enough of the 4.5" stuff. If I had to buy a phone tomorrow there isn't anything out there that impresses me right now. Maybe the new Samsung GalaxyII or whatever it's called. And whatever I eventually upgrade to from the EVO, it definitely will not be in white.
Barehooks
Bought a nexus dec 26, like the phone but I am having major connection and reception issues with my e-mail accounts and internet mostly in buildings. Verizon is on it but it had better get fixed soon. Was at Bemidji State hockey game Friday night in the Sanford Center and had 0 internet and emails while in the arena. Other droids and i-phones around me were full service. Other buildings like various big box stores and my work place is spotty at best. LwnmwnMan2
I bought a Razr the day after they hit the market.I use my phone all day, just about every day listening to radio online while working, and the battery will last about 4 hours. In my X2 I had an extended life battery which would last just about 7 hours without charging.I have a "to go charger" or whatever they call them. It's a portable power pack that you charge up at night, then carry it with you and attach via USB cable to the phone and it charges the battery again. Basically an external extended life battery. Somewhat clumsy, but I just carry it a pocket when I need it and live with it.As far as operation, I'm like you Dtro. I first got an X, then I bought my wife an HTC Incredible. I HATED HTC's operating and then bought matching X2s when they hit. When I bought the Razr, it's unbelievably faster than the X2. It's crisper. I wouldn't go back.I just have to get around to listing all these phones on the large auction HSOforum. I've got about $500 in phones sitting around if I'd just get them listed. CAMAN
LMM - Do you turn off 4G? I'd imagine 3G/CDMA should be able to keep up with the radio streaming, since it obviously worked fine for the most part in the past. 4G is what is killing your battery so quick. Worth a shot! It should update your roaming program. You cannot direct dial it, it must be in your contacts for it to work. If that doesn't help you may want to try for a replacement, that sounds more like hardware issues than software. I have no problems when inside buildings. I did a little quick research and you're right, that's what alot of people online are saying, drop the 4g.I downloaded a 4g toggle and will give it a shot. It'll be Thursday before I spend a whole day cutting wood again. Typically I can listen to KFAN / KSTP from 8-noon, then I charge the phone for an hour, a listen to KSTP from 1-5. I'll report and let everyone know if it makes a difference Thursday evening.
DTro
Thanks for the thoughts! I think the Rezound is out, it was quite a bit heavier and felt more bulky. Whittled it down to 2.

I've just read a few things that sound a lot like Barehooks wrote. Don't get me wrong, mine has issues, but the 4G and sometimes even 3G drops for only a minute or two, then comes right back. Except for the network wide blackout last Wednesday, it hasn't yet spent more than 5 minutes down where I have noticed it, and only happens maximum of once an hour when used extensively. Insiders beta testing the new update are saying this has been addressed and fixed. Hopefully Google pushes the update real soon.

My phone wouldn't last me 6 hours on idle with the screen only being turned on occasionally to check the time, etc. Turned off 4G/LTE and only use it when I need it and I get 70-80% battery life after a day of work with the same amount of use. The 4G radio is a POWER HOG in all devices.
LwnmwnMan2
FWIW, over the New Year's weekend, I was having dropped data connection as well on the Razr. Also, the Razr had a system upgrade about 2 weeks ago. You might read about SIM card authorization errors and no 4g connectivity, but the system upgrade has fixed that.
LwnmwnMan2
Turned the 4g off.this morning, streaming 1500ESPN from 8:30-11 am, battery went from 70%-30%.Tomorrow morning I'll switch my app from MediaU full to Tune In Radio and see if the app is the battery drain.I had gone into task manager and shut everything down that was running in the background. upnorth
Is the GPS module running? And not sure if anyone else experiences this, but I set up the connection for McDonalds WiFi and even tho it works it doesn't shut off by itself and keeps searching for something to connect to and drains the battery pretty dang quick..
