Neiko
Well I finally got to go spear fishing for the first time today after hastily getting all the gear last week. I used my portable with Landscaping plastic inside and it worked great. We started spearing about 9:50am and not even 15 minutes had gone by that I had a nice one come in. I was being coached by a buddy since I was a newbie to it. He came in from our feet side and was looking at my decoy about a foot and a half away. From my angle he was back a little so I had to pitch it behind us a little after sinking the tines slowly into the water. Once I chucked it I knew it was a great hit but boy did he take that spear for a ride. Ended up weighing just over 10lbs and measured 34 inches. I think I am going to like this sport alot. I will try to attach a picture but not sure how to do it.

Neiko
Thanks guys. I have a 2 and a half year old and had him in my portable a week ago and he did real good behaving. So my mind was trying to figure out a rail system so he could sit in the house when I spear and not go in. If I do come up with something I am sure momma is not going to go for it. FishOrDiecasting
Neiko. I take my 3 year old daughter with almost every time out. I use one of those auger style ice anchors for portables, tie a rope between the anchor and an adult size life vest. I use adult size because once she gets all bundled up,a youth vest won't fit. I just tie off the rope so she can see the hole, but not quite get to it. She sits in a kid's folding lawn chair, and if we get a hit on a tip-up,I just unbuckle the life vest and off we go! By the way...this is wife approved! Have fun!
