Spring Turkey hunting license question

It would be the same as people applying for bear tags & not purchasing the licenses. If you're unsure, don't apply and get an OTC tag.

The bear tags that were not being bought was the bear lovers trying to get the permits to save the bears.

The reason I did not buy the license was a death of a family member. Sorry but I did not know the family member was going to pass away when I applied.

Deep, that law has always been in effect. The computer system does not restrict you from buying a different license, because it is not the job of the licenses seller to regulate hunters.

It is the job of the hunter to know the laws and comply with them.

Yes you can buy a OTC tag if were drawn and choose not to hunt that season.

This is what they emailed back.

Subject: turkey application

"If you are drawn and do not purchase the selected license, then you could purchase an E-H license. If you purchase it, then you could not." Good Luck. Kevin

Please do not take what is written on here as the regulations, if you have a question go straight to the DNR.

Thanks for answering my ?'s deep, that was what I tried to get at earlier, if you don't buy the license if drawn, can you over the counter, I realize if you're not drawn you can OTC the later seasons. Do I realize I'm scum bagging the system you bet, I won't do it again, I think I finally understand the system, I may not get drawn anyway so the cart is in front of the horse but what I'm scamming isn't any worse than my neighbor who has his wife, adult kids, dogs and cats etc. all applying different A-D options but he is the only one hunting and could slam 4-5 Toms. Yes I don't want to take a hunt away from anyone else but they all can OTC and hunt so I feel 1/2 as bad. My flock of 25 toms now on Jan.13th deadline day is 32 toms in 508, dads turkey count in 507 is 0. During Xmas break Dec.22 I applied in 507, dumb, get back home to 508 and it's Tom city. I wish they could give us until like Feb. 29th to apply so a guy in my situation could scout a bit better a bit closer to the season, now watch I'll get drawn in 507 and dad will say they're here ! Life can't work that easy lol. I'm a turkey scammer my only kill was by windshield !

Thank you for the clarification,Now if I get the first week and we have a blizzard like a few years ago I will skip it and get a tag for a latter date. However that long archery season is going to be a blast now I won't have too take the 5 or 7 days off grin

There you go sniper, might as well scam like I am ! Just kidding, in all likelihood when my conscience gets the best of me on this I'll do the right thing. Then again with everyone and their brother, dog, deceased relative applying I won't get drawn anyway. If I do I can hunt 507 easily, sleep those 5 days and wait for next year.

On the DNR HSOforum, it states if your were a winner in the drawing, you are NOT ELIGIBLE to purchase an archery only tag.

Not sure if this was the direction the questions were heading so just thought I'd point this out.

No problem guys. I figure hunting is better later in the season when all the hens are nested up and the toms are still looking to breed grin

I can't disagree with that. Early season can be great but also can be darn tough. latter season tend to be more consistent.

Got icky news on the tom turkey flock, got tracks in the yard of wasn't sure until last night, 2 wild dogs on the loose chased the birds out of the section, not that they won't be back but the dogs were hard to hit and are far from tame, thanks whoever dumped them out on the gravel, fun, the deer got pushed out from the river bottom and thought 2 o'clock deer whatever whats going on and now I know. mad Now I'm happier I applied in 507 if the Toms don't get back on track.

I called and here's what I found out. The last 4 seasons are good for archery and you can buy and hunt anytime over the counter. You can also buy shotgun over the counter the last 4 seasons but just for one week. If you are chosen for week A-D and do not buy a liscence you can not buy the over the counter archery tag but you can buy the over the counter shotgun tag but you can just do one season. Also if you do this I was told it will not affect prefferance points. Make sence??

10 4. Can't really call TIP, living here for 16 years and knowing my neighbors well they'll have their deer rifles loaded as well. I really have 0 neighbors, but there are 3 other homes in the section but only 1 has a dog. I've talked with 2 of the 3, the only conclusion is to take them out, they see a person and run without looking back for nearly a mile. Bad deal, wife said yesterday one dog came into the yard again and inhaled as much birdseed as it could before she tapped on the window and sent it running. Anyway, stay warm and turkey time is a comin!

Eyeguy2,It won't affect your preference points if your not drawn for A-D and buy an over the counter. If your drawn and DON'T purchase your licence you will lose you preference points. DrJ

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
