Holy [PoorWordUsage] people! crazy Peoples well being is second to watching a violent sport! If it is being a pansy to play with rules meant to protect peoples brain , than I want to watch pansy ball. Maybe we should be mad at OSHA for requiring the use of a welding helmet while welding at our job, what a bunch of pansies it is just our eyes!

It is horrid we complain about rules intended to protect people in a violent sport, while we sit in our lazy chairs with a beer, watching it all happen and call them pansies. I for one do not think 10 million dollars is worth my memory or a quality life with my family

There are way more people that play the game that walk away just fine then people with memory loss. Most of it is fake and what they are doing is trying to get on the bandwagon for more money.

Can someone explain to me how Utecht's memory and his family life is ruined when he travels from state to state everyday performing music?

For the record I agree with some of the rules and protecton, but it gets redonkulous and ruins games...period. Almost every game you watch is decided by penalties.

It is amazing at the amount of people on this board who seem to think all is fine with the NFL. I played football all through college and I will tell you there are major issues with head trauma. Many, many players came off to the sidelines dazed and with symptoms of a concussion. When I played, we NEVER even thought of issues down the road, or even cared. I was lucky to only have 1 concussion while I played at a very small college, but the more I have learned about them, the more I feel the NFL should be doing something to make it safer for players.

I understand that people are upset many of the rules are taking away from the game but understand that safety has to be an issue the league takes seriously or it has the very real possibility that someone else steps in for player protections and makes rules the NFL is not fond of.

Football is a violent sport. We used to speak of making a player shoot snot bubbles, not crossed eyed for head to head hits. Even when I played football, no one was teaching helmet to helmet. It was head up and drive you shoulder through your opponent.

I doubt it...the NFL is a voluntary sport. These guys know the repurcussions and get paid handsomely for their efforts.

Name any job...any of the thousands out there...each one has their own dangers and life-long effects on a person.

Get over it.

agree with your argument...as long as players follow the rules. once they start playing by their own rules (i.e. harrison) then it becomes a whole different argument. as someone else pointed out, all the other jobs out there have rules and regulations that make them as safe for the employee as possible and once people start breaking those rulse, eventually there are consequences.

I would say that all jobs in the USA are voluntary, but I do not know your profession. And every other "job" for the most part is regulated in some way by OSHA. If the NFL is not careful, you will see more scrutiny of the head injuries by outside agencies. If this happens the NFL will likely lose the ability to say when players can return to a game. For example, the league is already looking at putting independent doctors on the sideline that have no connection with the NFL.

And its not fair to say they signed up for concussions and are paid well for it. Coal miners know what they signed up for, but I'm sure we all expect the mine companies to make their jobs as safe a possible, even though they know the "repercussions".

It is football, a violent sport.

Harrison is a great player.

The NFL is virtually unwatchable with all the rules.

Nothing better than a bone crushing hit that knocks a player the eff out.

They get paid millions to play a game, they assume all risk when they step on the field.

Most QBs, WRs and RBs today are pansies that should not even be playing the game.

Harrison is a great player. (agree)

The NFL is virtually unwatchable with all the rules. (disagree. still best sport out there to watch)

Nothing better than a bone crushing hit that knocks a player the eff out. (bone crushing hits are good provided they are legal and the bone that is getting crushed isn't the skull and the crusher isn't using his helmet to do the crushing but disagree that the person needs to be carried off the field for it to be exciting for fans.)

They get paid millions to play a game, they assume all risk when they step on the field. (agree that they accept the risk provided the other players are playing by the rules.)

Most QBs, WRs and RBs today are pansies that should not even be playing the game. (disagree. these guys playing are the best football players out there and all you need to do is think back several years to the boring football that was played when the strike was going on and you didn't have the best players out there on the field. that was boring to watch.)
