Marcum Flashers

But it does not blend like Vexilar. I use LX5, and like it. My bro was using a FL20 and he likes the "blending" of the vex. Different strokes for different folks smile but to answer your questions, Marcums don't blend the colors like Vex.

box had a very good description. The one thing I will say about the Marcum as well is the pure crispness of the colors is second to none. No mistaking, it's pure. Easy to read and sharp. That is one of my largest kudos about using Marcum.

I have owned Vexilars and a Marcum. Becuase I had used Vexilars for so many years, when I tried to make the switch to the LX3-tc I had a very difficult time training my brain that the colors are different.

I sold that unit shortly after and got the Vexilar fl-22hd. If you are used to a vexilar, learn from my mistake and borrow one before you pull the trigger.

Maybe my brain is underdeveloped grin but I couldn't get used to it.

I agree 100% Twins Fan! They are quite different. I have been using Marcum so long that when I look at Vex I just feel that it looks so fuzzy smile My bro is the opposite. Nice to have choices! But yeah, testing on ice is the best way, if possible, though they all work great and better than not having one! I "WON'T" fish without a flasher anymore, if I have to it is all tip ups wink

I used to have an LX3 and my brother had an LX3tc. My transducer was shot in two years time, my brothers only took one year. I really don't think the transducers on those units were built to take the punishment of all that power. I am now going on year 5 of my FL18 and haven't had one hiccup since purchasing it. I don't mean to bash Marcum but just wanted to share my experience.

I have had my lx-5 for about five years now, never had a problem with the transducer, and I fish hard. I too can't stand looking at the vexilar screens they look fuzzy. I would buy a vexilar if they came out with a product that was better then the marcum, but as of right now they don't have anything that compares to an lx-5.

Only thing I would want the vex to clean up is the fat lines. Not a deal breaker for me though. If i'm fishing suspended crappie I don't need sfl or adjustable zoom those features would shine more for the bottom hugging fish. That said I am starting to get head aches from starring at blobby lines. Would love to try the fl-22 and see how that unit is.

To me the "blobby lines" is what I like. It is like a fade in or out as a fish gets closer or farther. both great companies and that is why they are both successful. It is all preference and you will be happy with either. Very similar to a ford vs chevy debate.

You have a different way of seeing things. Fish to what works for you!

I think the blobby lines are defunct when on a school of fish. This is where the visual issue lies with the Vex for me. When on a school of swarming fish now appears to what looks like overlapping blobs. Sure its a fish. But how many?

I had a customer pull a brand new FL20 out of the box...had to turn the ice ducer up to 8 to read in 20 fow...put a older ducer on it and it read fine....point is both companies have issues....the ducer is a shaved piece of ceramic and if it is not the correct tolerance ...it'll have issues.

Both are solid companies...I like the fine lines and that I can pick my target..with my vex they all mixed together...couldn't see walleyes pinned to the bottom with my Vex either with the 3" of seperation...now I can see them with my LX3 and I also enjoy the moveable zoom that the Vex did not have.

When I'm fishing I fish hard...all day...my battery is just finealthough my Vex was easier on batteries. I also enjoy having a cleaner screen without so much interference.

You should have contacted Marcum with that problem. I guarantee they would have sent each of you a free replacement transducer, no questions.

With the FL-22hd having 1/4 inch seperation, it is not difficult to tell how many fish. Unless of course they are doing something innapropriate blush

Twins fan, just to clarify vexilars have 2.65" of seperation and 1/4 or 1/2" target id meaning they can id a target thats more dense than water if its 1/4 or 1/2" depending on model, but the seperation is the worst of the three but there all fairly close.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
