TruthWalleyes
I'll have to look mine over real good to see if i can find it.
buzbunni
there is no way i want the regular suit - the lite version is plenty warm for me! How warm is "warm" Truth? . Sorry, I know that's kind of vague, but I'm thinking about purchasing a suit myself and can't decide which model to get. I'm leaning toward the LITE version as I tend to run a bit warm and figure I can throw in a layer underneath if I'm fishing outside in the cold. If I'm in the shelter, well, no worries. BTW, 6' and 25olbs. XL or XXL? Thanks Dtro for posting this in the 1st place. Have been thinking of getting a float-assist suit for a couple of yrs now, and this seems to be the right product at the right time for me. Be safe out there everbody! TruthWalleyes
I used to wear the heavy duty carharts, and the LITE are warmer. I've never needed anything more than my carharts...but once they are wet, they are cold. BTW, I'm out in any and all weather conditions...kind of enjoy the extremes. I'm 6'6" 275, XXL fits well for bibs. I do not own a striker coat - Yet.

Northlander
Im 6'6" and 270# and I have the 3x suit and the jacket is a bit big but will be ok when I start having to layer I think. I have the Grey/Black suit and man its warm. Way warmer than my AA suit. Im guessing the light suit is going to be plenty warm for most folks. I got the regular suit because Im going to use it snowmobiling as well as in the boat spring and fall.
ac777
Wow, Never thought Id see the day of the down turn of AA suits. After all the promoting and hype everyon did on this site a few years ago, never thought it would end. Granted I did Buy a suit, and I like it for the most part, just funny to see the tables turn. TruthWalleyes
I agree, the tables have turned....But i've also been waiting the last 3 years for a suit that fits a 6'6" tall guy...and these striker bibs i actually had to shorten the legs a tad! So way to go striker for thinking of someone other than the 5'11" average joe! Now, about all you flip-over ice house manufacturers I hit my shoulders on the cealings of everyone i've stepped into in stores. Lame. Northlander
ac777 I still like my AA suit a lot. It has never let me down and has lasted me many years. I still will wear it when its warmer outside. Like with many things newer improved product come about and make our lives outdoors a bit nicer/easier. Competition is good for all us consumers who spend so much of our hard earned money to be able to enjoy the outdoors. The Striker Suit is another option in a floating suit and I will say improved over the other floating suits out there.

Now, about all you flip-over ice house manufacturers I hit my shoulders on the cealings of everyone i've stepped into in stores. Lame. Truth thats why I fish out of a Otter Lodge. As you know Im a big guy and I just love the head room in my new Thermal. Not to mention Im loving how little heat I have to use to keep me toasty warm. I think I have only had to fire up my small buddy camp heater a few times later on at night so far. I cant wait for some serious cold to really test it out. I fished out of a Cabin for many years when solo. It was nice and roomy but didnt have the head room the Lodge does.
TruthWalleyes
Thats awesome northlander. I'll have to take a serious look into the otter lodge thermal. I've had a post-it on my computer screen with the size of AA you wear from a post nearly a year ago. I'm glad i waited for striker though. Unless i'm missing something, the otter lodge is only 6'4"...i.e. still too short. Probably better than most though i suppose.

dfeste
Dtro, I'm with you on the bobber. They could have at least put an ice fishing bobber on there. Even better an embroidered crappie.
gonehunting
What size would you recommend for someone 6'tall 215lbs? Does everyone agree that they are as heavy as the Frabill FXE Snosuit? I just purchased the Frabill but still have tags on the suit so I could take back. I do like the floating characteristics especially with ice like we have this year. Northlander
I do believe my regular Striker Suit is in the same ball park weight wise as the Frabill suit. The Striker Light is probably a bit lighter. I looked at all the suits out there but wanted floatation so I was very limited. A big bulky Mustang Suit was out of the question and the Striker Suit was the best of the rest in my opinion. If your thinking about taking back the Frabill suit and getting a Srtiker Suit Im sure you would be every impressed with it. Go try one on and check out both the standard grey/black Striker and the Striker Light as well. You may find that you dont need the warmth of the Standard Suit and the light could be a better option for you.
Dark Cloud
Just unwrapped my Lite bibs from Santa! Wow, they are a nice well thought out suit.I have always wanted a floater but never cared for the fit or bulky-ness of the AA's.We dont get much real cold temps out here and I typically just wear a moisture wicking layer then fleece pants under some un-insulated bibs. Im going to have to lighten up under these bibs though. I cant even imagin the "regular" ones.Im 5 11 and go about 3 bills. The 3xl's with the legs shortened all the way fit perfect! SalmonSlayer
Just ordered my lite bibs. Really hoping they show up before I head to URL next weekend. What was the turn around for those of you that ordered from their HSOforum as opposed to a distributor? I'm hoping the holiday doesn't delay it too bad. theicehooker
Northlander.....are you telling me that you have never felt clammy in the arctic armour suit?? I totally agree with the post from the guy that is disgusted with his AA suit. I think there has to be a better suit out there and it wouldnt take much for me to throw mine away and buy that one!! arctic Armour jackets are not that warm. And when the weather is in the in between range the suit does not breathe so they get hot and clammy!! Just my opinion
slurpie
How cold of temps have you guys had? I work outdoors and there has been numerous days we have worked in sweatshirt and pants. And this is out in the middle of fields. I learned one thing from buying an AA suit , if it feels heavy and bulky means it is warmer than something that's light. Got a strike master suit and fished comfortably in below zero weather last winter outside all day. was not impressed with my AA suit from the first time I used it , and it was extremely bragged up on here. I actually called IDI gear a couple times to complain and was just short of competely blown off. will wait for much colder temps and see what everyone says I feel this season has been to warm to tell the warmth of any thing. But one plus is the tip up fishing is great this year.
ready2fish
I also have the AA suite and no matter what you buy your going to find things Their need improvement, the bad thing about AA is its been out for a number of years and i don't believe they fixed any of there issues. With having this Striker suite it puts pressure on the other companies and the good thing is it will eventually bring down prices and we will have a better built suite.I have seen these in the store and i was very impressed with how durable the material looked, i know with my AA suite i also have worn holes in the knee area, i did call them and they sent me material to path the knees for free. One thing i would like to know are the bottom portion of the leg bigger so they fit around my Predator Extreme boots
DTro
One thing i would like to know are the bottom portion of the leg bigger so they fit around my Predator Extreme boots Yes, they zip all the way up to the hip. I have Predator Extremes and the Bibs slide on and off very easily. I don't have many negative things to say about AA, but not being able to take them on and off with my boots on really bothered me sometimes. I'm liking this Striker Ice suit better each time I wear it.

I have learned not to over dress in them and I dont pull my house out with the jacket on. I also make sure I have a good wicking base layer no matter what I wear. I have worn my Striker Suit a few more times and man is it WARM. I think it will be the ticket for them snowmobile rides to hot spots and on the trails. Now we just need some dang cold and snow up here.
Eric_Kruger
These Suits are Tops Notch! The quality is great. Wayne Ek
Just ordered a jacket/bibs set (floating) from Striker. I have my AA suit and it has worked great for me. It's held up remarkable well, considering all the abuse I heaped on it. With the AA suit you will get some moisture if you do not layer, which most of us do now when we are out in cold weather hunting or fishing. But the floatation feature on the Striker suit sold me...especially with the poor ice conditions this year.
