Portable Fish House lights

A few years ago I bought some of those 'Best Hong Kong" LED lights for my fishouse. They have served me well and are very bright. This was at a time when good LED lighting was virtually impossible to come by locally. How does the new LED lighting that is readily available compare? Has anyone who has used the 'Hong Kong' lighting bought other brands and have an opinion as to whether it performs better, worse, or the same? I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but thought it might be pertinent and interesting. Thanks.

I have two Clam 3' led ropes and the clam power center with a vex battery It lights my YukOn tc up about perfectly I cant see needing more light than that. I cut in some in-line switches I got at home depot to limit the connecting and disconnecting on the battery. It will run over 24hrs on a charge.

I have used both and they are close in light output. The FireBright light strings from the OPS are a much better quality light.

The reason so many do not care to purchase the king kong lights is they have had issues with thier CC being charged twice and some light strings came broke.

I for one was one with a broken light string and after he had made the sale, he would not reply to my e-mails in regards to an exchange.

In the past years, there have been many issues with this company so buyer beware.

They have 12 volt LED rope lights. I quit using mine because it just wasn't bright enough for my Otter Lodge. I just bought a 4 watt lantern by Ray-o-Vac at Menards for $25.00 It uses 3 D cells unfortunately but does it light it up great! It's rated at 300 Lumens. Just as bright as my Coleman single mantle propane. You can hang it upside down from the support pole up above. My package says it will last up to 72 hours on high, 150 on low. The one at this HSOforum says differently.

The Firebrite LED lights in the OutdoorproStore that look all white are the brighter option.

The others and the ones with the battery box are not as bright but many do like them.

If one is looking for a very bright high quality LED light string, the Firebrite LEDs as I stated in the Outdoor pro Store will light up ones Otter Lodge. I have 2 of the smaller light string in mine and they work very well. I do not believe there is a brighter light string made on the market today for sasle for portables. I have heard nothing but happy customers with these lights, the white looking ones.

Fire Brite and King Kong appear to be the same type of LED light and likely both produced in Hong Kong. It would be easier for one to deal with the outdoor pro store then BHK.

I too have the BHK lights since other good ones were not available back then.

A long while back I got the 39 inch HKong version but that was before there was a 39 inch version of the FireBrite. They appear to be identical lights molded together exactly the same, HOWEVER the FireBrite version has a MUCH better lead wire (not just a strand of hair, like the HKong one) and it includes the clips you'll want to add anyway for use with a 12v battery (although I went with female blade connectors). Now, if only they could keep those FireBrites in stock. smile

I believe the wire that connects each led is also of a heavier gauge material.

They are a hot seller.

While I took care of the Outdoor pro Store, I worked with the guy that sold these to the OPS. He checks every set before it gets shipped out and I also checked them to make sure they worked so the customer recieved a working product.

In the 2 years I was helping with marketing these LED lights, we never had one set returned if my memory serves me well.

As stated above, the clips are included and the gayge wire connecting the LED's are a bit heavier. The wire from the light string to the clips is also a bit better quality.

There were many that had issues with the BHK lights so myself and Rick worked with these lights to offer the fisherman a quality light for thier portables.

I have also read many great posts on the lights.

Hey Tom, Thanks for your input. The lights we have this year are top of the line. Many of you saw them at the ice show. They are super bright and very durable. How you mount the light is only limited to your imagination!
