color blind?

I am color blind also. When I ever needed to track a deer I tried to follow its tracks if I knew if it was hit. If I needed to look for blood I was was up a creek. Then I would have to get help. The only advice I can give is to practice shooting a lot and don't take risky shots. That has helped me more than anything. Don't have to track when you see them go down. I know that is easier said than done but it will help.

I'm colorblind and I've only found two things that work for me-- 1) make a dang good shot and watch it fall, or 2) get someone who's not colorblind. Not all non-colorblind trackers are created equal- I've got a couple buddies are good. My dad was the best I've ever seen, but his tracking days are behind him now, I'm afraid.

Im not color blind but have been using a string tracker on my bows for years. Cuts tracking time to down to seconds on deer that don't travell over fifty yards. The main reason I started with the string traker is I hunt areas near sloughs and plowed fields. When there is little or no blood trail the string shows where the deer has gone. I have not had a deer break the string or the barb come out of the hide.

It takes some practice to get used to a string tracker but they do work and will help make for quick tracking of any deer that has been hit even if the shot is a little far back.
