muzzleloader season

Recommended Posts

I su*ked for rifle season after a week of hunting, so I'm going to have to redeem myself for muzzleloader season.

I carry a Pedersoli Frontier caplock (a replica of the Kentucky longrifle), 50 cal., and 295 gr. Powerbelt HP with 80 grains of 777. One day this week I have to take a run out to the range and get it sighted in. All summer I was shooting patched roundballs with half powder loads to practice shot placement, trigger squeeze, etc. Amazing how accurate a roundball is at 50 yards!

I've been bow hunting the past few years with some buddies that muzzy hunt. I'll be hunting with a muzzy for the first time this year. I bought a CVA Accura V2 and will be pushing 300gr Hornady SSTs with 2 777 pellets. I was driving tacks with that load at 100 yds at the range.
