Sorry guys...I drive truck for a living and I've been away. Caught both Tiger losses to the Twinsies. Wasn't near a computer to log on and listen to your gloating...however, I am a man and can take the lashing....but it hardly was one...
After all, we've surpassed last years total wins and there's still 67 games left (for the the Tigers)...

I always take something constructive from a loss.

That said, neither Twin victory (3-1 and 5-4 in extra innings) was impressive, considering the fact that the Twins are supposed to repeat as division champions. The nice thing for me is that the Twins aren't beating anyone convincingly...the team that is kicking some maximus buttocks right now (in our division) are the White Sox. They are scoring runs in huge bunches. The Twins a scraping wins together right now...but it won't last. They're really not good enough. The one guy who is impressive on the Twins is Joe Nathan. And you all whined like Vikings fans when "Everyday Eddie" Guardado and LaTroy Hawkins left!!! That shows how little you know about baseball...outside of your "Minnesota bubble"...

Again, I'd like to apologize for not feeling the pain for the Tiger losses, in fact...I'm feeling more confident than before, that the Tigers have as good a chance as any team in this division right now...
Thank you for your misguided attention... grin.gif

Boy those Twinkies are really pounding on the Devil Rays or are they the 27 Yankees. I think the poor White Sox should not even bother playing the rest of their games since there is no way they can possibly match up with the vaunted Twins. Oh wait, the Sox won again, Freddie Garcia pitched a shut out with nine strike outs. YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD....YES. Go Sox, and as Barry Switzer used to say, JUST WIN, BABY!

Tigers & Indians are fighting for 3rd place, maybe we need to worry about them next year. The Twins have played crappy a lot of this year, but continue to win games & hang with the Sox, because they've done it before & don't get rattled. If they ever start to hit not even up to potential, just a little closer to it, they'll be fine.

The Sox definitely are a good offensive team & we've not played well against them this year, but it's still going to be a dogfight. Offense comes & goes, if they're so great & we're not, why do we continue to swap the division lead? I know Mags was hurt a lot, but the Twins have had their opening day roster play opening day & about half of game #2, that's it, so don't talk to us about injuries.

Alright, have to pipe up here...
If there was ever an overrated team in the history of organized sports, it's the pale hoes. Overpaid, no-defense, run-at-the-mouth squad that always falls apart at the end of the year. The best part of the pale hoes is that they try and talk trash every year to the Twins, who consistently destroy them at the end of the year. Even though the Twins are the division's 2-time defending champs, the pale hoes and the fans of the pale hoes run their mouths. Who was the chump that got traded to the A's two years ago? (can't remember his name--think it was Durham?). The sweet part about that was he talked smack when he was a pale ho all year and then talked smack going into that Oakland series. Twins ended the season that year for the pale hoes, then ended the A's in that best of 5 series in Oaktown. And all that **** about putting it on the board....go for it. YES. ANOTHER TWINS VICTORY OVER THE PATHETIC PALE HOES.

LMFAO @ "Pale Hoes"

Thats awesome.

Everyone talks about how bad the Twins have played...well...They are still in the Wild Card race if for some odd reason they loose out on the Division (not likely) and if you stuck them over in the NL, they would lead 1 division and be in the wild card mix as well.

Twins will make it 3 Divisonal championships in a row.

VikingTom...

JB Hunt?!! No sir!! I'm driving for JME (cement powder tankers) right now...and in the process of hiring on with CCX (LTL). I used to drive for American Freightways/Fedex Freight and most recently Vitran Express. Thought I'd shorten my commute to-and-from work, and hired on with JME (a block from the house). However, their benefits suck! Health insurance is way too high, no holiday pay, no guaranteed winter work and they didn't disclose some of this in their hiring process. Well, I knew their health insurance was high, but who doesn't pay the 8 major holidays? Even McDonalds pays those!! I assumed they did and you know what they say about assumptions. I didn't know they require (pressure) you to take your vacations in the winter...when you've been laid off!!!

By contrast, the benefits are tremendous (well...by today's standards) at CCX, even though I'll have to drive 35 miles each way to work and back...but I'm hoping to work there...for the family's sake.

Looks like the Tigers are in a bit of a funk, pretty much playing .500 ball, while the Twins are winning. Can't catch 'em that way! I still think the Tigers will push hard before the season's over since their injured players are returning (i.e; Alex Sanchez, Craig Monroe, and Fernando Vina), plus, I know the Twins will struggle and back pedal a bit, especially the younger guys, who aren't used to a long season. That, and the fact that Joe Nathan hasn't been roughed up yet, we'll have to see how he handles the final stretch, when the games become meaningful. He has never pitched this well in his career before, so he's walking around "the hot coals"...it'll be interesting.

I haven't been as interested in baseball (like I have been this year) in about 27 years! Hopefully, as the Tigers continue to improve, my love for this "tainted sport" will return...I'm trying to fall in love with it again.

Twins will win the Central. Bottom Line.

You can't seriously think that the Tigers have a chance, they're 11.5 back.

As far as the whitesox go, they have been the most overrated, big name, smack talking, and just plainly not a good team for the last few years. Did you read what Frank Thomas said in the star trib. Unreal he thinks the way we are playing that the sox will run away with the division... Not likely chump!!

Now Cleveland is a good club and I would guess if there is any competition it will come from them. Also next year the Indians will be very good.

Must be a gas leak in house by the way he's talking. In 2003 with the Giants Joe Nathan was 12-4 2.96 ERA 83 Ks in 79 innings pitched. To think that Detroit will do anything is delusional. But they will probably pass up the white sox. I believe the Indians will be a good team for the next few years to come. My only complaint: Twins need to pick up another starter before the playoffs.

You're probably right about the Tigers this year. However, in 1968 (when they won the World Series) they were 10 games out of first with one month left in the season...and what about last years' Florida Marlins? They had the exact same record as the Tigers did at the All-Star break (this season) and won the whole shootin' match! It can be done...however, the Tigers are fighting some key injuries. Vina's career may be done. Alex Sanchez re-aggravated his torn quad. Nate Cornejo won't be pitching again this season. Bobby Higginson, a career .280 average/20 HR-a-season (up until last year), is in the batting slump of his life (the last 2 years .235 and .242)...Personally, I think he needs glasses...in his words: "I'm having trouble seeing the ball"...
Craig Monroe, Dmitri Young and Ivan Rodriguez have been playing injured...but they're a gutty bunch that now knows they can beat anyone, at anytime. It's just a matter of consistency. They'll be better next year, because they all seem to like one another and are enjoying their new found success and are buying into manager Alan Trammell's philosophies. According to the Detroit News and the Tigers HSOforum, Pudge Rodriguez has provided an immense lift to the morale of the team and the young pitching staff. He knows they are a good, young team and have the talent, they just need another season. He also feels the Tigers are as good, or better than the Marlins were last year.

He said it...I didn't. I'd like to believe him...

It's good to see the Indians storming the Twins like they are...I never imagined that! I, for one, thought the Indians would come in last...behind the Royals! Then again, I didn't think the Royals would be this bad either. But I'm glad because I wish that any team Juan Gonzalez goes to, does bad. He's just an ungrateful person. The Tigers gave him millions of dollars (plus a new stadium) and he just walked out on them after one season..."because the fences are too hard to reach!"

Ok, it's time the Tigers play spoiler and to be honest...the Twins are gonna get spanked this month...have you seen their remaining schedule?
Let's see...
the Yankees, the Indians, the Rangers, the Angels, the Rangers (again!), the Royals, the Orioles, the Tigers, the White Sox, the Orioles (again!), the White Sox (again!), the Indians (again!) and they end the season against the Yankees and the Indians!!!

Hee-heee...White Sox will win the division...based on their remaining schedule...

Backherup: Once again I must throw your fine line of "know your facts" at you... this time regarding the Joe Nathan comment... good homework ma boy!!
Please quit making excuses about your Detroit Lions and Tigers losing because of injuries.. it makes you sound Candy..., and I'm sure your an educated person who doesn't need to do that! I also hear you saying the same thing every Detroit Lions and Tiger fan says every year halfway through.... wait til next year blah blah blah followed by I don't think your team can hang on "hee hee" Are you 6 years old?
The tigers won't win a division championship or make the playoffs in the next 5 years. Cleveland looks very improved, Chicago is a bunch of guys having a hard time learning how to play team ball.
Don't take me too seriously, I like to have fun bustin chops. ( :

White Sox win the divison???? Come on. Their pitching is horrible and their fielding is bush league. The Central is the Twins for the 3rd year in a row. And their starting to hit with some power. Koskie,Jones 20 homers and Morneua would hit 40+ over a season with a full season of at bats. Cy Young finalist in Santanna. No team this year measures up to the TWins in the Division. AS far as the schedule, the Twins are playing those above .500 teams quite tough. Should've swept the Yanks and about to sweep the Tribe.
GO Twins!!!

buzzsaw,
This backherup fellow had been out to lunch from day one. ALan Trammel manager of the year???? Come on. Heck- I could have managed the tigers this year and won 30 more games, heck,, odds are your going to win at least 20 more by the guys trying the last half of the season. Heck, you could be blindfolded and play better than they did last year. ALan Trammel manager of the year--- and Pigs (the White Sox) fly.
How can anyone be a White Sox fan after the comments they made on the past Twins homestand?? My goodness, no wonder they fade worse than ,,, well then the White sox of the past 2 years,,, becasue they are a horribile franchise from the announcers to the candy$$$ players who could learn defense from Ely community college players..
Way to go TWINS!!!!!!!!!
White Sox, Tigers, Royals, Indians,--- there's always next year. Then again,, probably not.

Did'nt he say that the Twins were'nt going to clinch while he was on the mound?

That guy must have got into some bad chicken!

Well, the sox won last night, so I suppose that in there minds, that makes up for the whole season..."See, we beat the division champs, so we'er better!" or something like that? At any rate, whose going to the play offs? GO TWINS!!!!
