Drifting Slip Bobbers

it may be effective but it doesnt work because no matter how slow you drift the bobber wotn stand upright and will fall over and the line will come back towards the rod, the only way i have found to do it is to cast out infront of the way you are drifting and then reel in as you get closer, but this defeats the porpuse as the bobber is stainary.

I haven't tried it but if you let out enough line at the side if the boat then put a small split shot right under the bobber when it is at the stop then you would be able to keep the right amount of line out. Problem is that it is no longer a slip bobber at that point and if you catch a fish then you would have to take off the split shot some how to reel it in.

How effective of a presentation can this be? No anchor, controlled drift/trolling with the good ol' slip bobber.

What is needed for the adjustment, heavier weights to get you down? Maybe a jig?

Guido,

Gary Roach was interviewed after he and Mike Schnettler took third in this years WaveWacker's Tourney. He said one of the ways they caught their fish was drifting slipbobber's over the gravel because the fish were suspended 3-5' off the bottom.

many people drift with slip bobbers. Meaning that they will use the electric and chase or follow their slip bobber, if the wind and waves are pushing the bobber away from their anchored position...........

It allows you to cover ground on negative fish and still give the proper presentation..........

Slip bobber fishing works great. Here in Wi. I'll throw out a slip bobber with a minnow or leach behind the boat and cast out the front. I'v caught alot of walleyes and smallies doing that. No matter how fast the boats drifting it works. Try some buster bobbers.

Drifting or trolling with slipbobbers is very effective in certain situations. The key is having enough weight to keep the line from pulling through the float. Something I like to do is drift/troll with a lindy rig under a float. This takes a little time to figure exactly what depth the bait is being presented at but with a little trial and error it can be figured out. This presentation works great over the tops of weeds also.

Sounds like it maybe could work in certain situations (ultra slow drift).

If you want to drift vertical, try drop shotting. This is where you tie the hook on several inches above the end of the line. Then throw a few split shots at the end of the line and drift away.

Here in SD. we are allowed to fish two lines. I am always trying new ways to run a second line while I am pitching jigs/cranks to shorelines. The best I have found is to use a 3-way swivel under a float and run a plain hook off the trailing end, and a dropper( of desired length) wih a heavy enough weight to maintain the propper depth. I just stick the rod in a rod holder and run it behind the boat. I guess you could say that I am trolling the bobber. It almost aways adds a few extra fish in the boat.
