??? for the camera techies?

I wanted to grab a new SD card for some of my cameras with video capabilities, but all i can find now is the "SDHC" cards.

If I have a year old camera that takes "SD' cards, can I use the "SDHC" cards or are they not compatible?

If not... Where the heck can a guy still get an actual "SD" card?

SD cards are available everywhere. Walmart, Target, online, etc.

generally sdhc cards are not compatible with standard sd card devices unless they can have their firmware upgraded.

HC stands for high capacity. Look for cards 2gb and under they should be standard SD cards.

Even 2gb will probably give you several hundreds of pictures worth of space.

You can still find them online, and for cheap! pricewatch is one place to check prices. Most places in store is now only higher sized cards.

Ive got about a dozen of the 2GB SD cards already... I just want a few big cards for more storage of the longer video clips. A 2 GB card will only hold about (80) 10 second events.....

But can I use "SDHC" with a camera set up for "SD"?

Look on HSO-Classifieds... you will NOT find a card over 4GB that not SDHC? Im thinking the original SD cards are obsolete now.

Griz, how many gig card does your camera say it can take? If it will take larger then 2 gig, then it will take SDHC. Stadard SD cards stop at 2 gig, any thing larger is HC. If your cam is only a year old I would think it is in at least 8 -16 gig rating.

Perfect Thank you! I think all my Cuddebacks aren't supposed to have much larger than a 2 GB but im trying some of these Stealth Cam Units and they take up to the 16GB and they have the video features.

Thanks everyone. Ill get the SDHC card and try it out! Lotsa bucks been comming to the mineral licks, and starting to show some good growth. Camera friendly and fun to follow!
